Sharon called as Nick arrived at Crimson Lights. They were both hoping to run into one another. Sharon asked Nick to join her in the park. Nick was surprised when he joined Sharon, and she had a picnic set up on a blanket with all of Nick's favorite foods. Sharon said she wanted to thank him for taking her out for dinner.

Sharon told Nick that she appreciated all of his support and noted that he had been an amazing father to Faith during Sharon's struggles. "It's about time I did something for you," Sharon said with a smile. Sharon said the dinner and Nick's support were exactly what she needed.

Sharon poured Nick a glass of Prosecco but noted that she was not drinking with her new meds. "I can't believe how much better I feel in just a few days," Sharon noted. With her sparkling water, she said cheers to Nick for once again coming to her rescue.

At Daniel's, Phyllis listened as Daniel vented about Chance. He explained how Chance had a "wild new theory" that Heather had a lover. Daniel said that Chance wanted to search the apartment but he told him he couldn't. Phyllis thought that Daniel was making a mistake. Phyllis offered to help Daniel search, but that idea made him upset.

Daniel explained that he could still smell Heather's perfume on his sheets and wasn't ready to move her things. Phyllis advised Daniel to let Chance come and do it instead. Daniel still thought Chance was looking for clues in the wrong place. Daniel was worried about how it would affect Lucy to have the police search the apartment. Phyllis suggested that Chance could find one little clue that would explain Heather's last moments and that would help Daniel and Lucy grieve.

At the Athletic Club, Summer could tell that Chance was thinking about the investigation. Chance said that he was waiting for the autopsy report, and there were no witnesses from the river where Heather's body was found.

Chance acknowledged that searching Daniel's apartment would be painful for Daniel and Lucy but said it was a basic procedure to rule things out. Chance was surprised when, moments later, Daniel called and asked him to come over.

After Chance left, Phyllis met Summer at the Athletic Club. Summer was confident that Chance would figure out what happened to Heather. Summer noted that Chance was relentless in Phyllis' disappearance until he uncovered the truth. Phyllis said that while Chance worked on the case, she would convince Billy to rehire Daniel and get his life back on track.

Faith saw Lucy at Crimson Lights and consoled her. Lucy said she couldn't stop crying. She had many regrets about her behavior towards Heather before her mom died. Faith hoped the tragedy wouldn't lead Lucy to drink. Lucy admitted she had been tempted but didn't drink as she felt her mom was watching and didn't want to disappoint her.

Lucy was dismayed at the police investigation and horrified at the thought that someone may have hurt Heather. Faith told Lucy not to let her mind go there, but Lucy cried about how horrible the last moments of her mom's life might have actually been.

Nick and Sharon walked in, and everyone looked apprehensive. Sharon handed Lucy a tissue and gave her condolences. Nick and Sharon sat with Faith and Lucy and tried to be comforting. Nick told Lucy that what she was going through was unbearably painful but assured her that things would improve.

Sharon looked concerned when Lucy mentioned the police investigation into Heather's death. Lucy looked at Sharon as she said it all felt like one big nightmare, except she was wide awake.

At the office, Billy received a video call from Jill. She told him that she was expecting a clean bill of health from Snapper and that Lily had contacted her. Jill accused Billy of making outrageous moves, but Billy called them sound business decisions.

Jill did not think replacing Lily and Chance with Phyllis was a sound business move. Billy defended Phyllis' experience and invaluable input and stood by his decision to hire her. Jill asked if Billy was on a one-man mission to bring down the entire empire.

Billy wondered if Jill was really asking if he wanted to see the company fail. He said he didn't bog her down with every decision because he had been worried about her health. Billy said that Jill did not have the whole story and that Lily and Chance had left out some details.

Billy explained that Lily was screwing him over and planning to get him out of the company to run it on her own. He added that Chance threatened to walk unless Billy made him an equal partner, although he had only been at the company for five minutes. "I was making decisions I thought you would be proud of," Billy said.

Jill said she wished she could believe Billy but thought he was paranoid about Lily's plot to get rid of him and said he should have tried harder to keep Chance. Jill added that he was using her health as an excuse. "First, you think I want the company to fail, then you call me paranoid, and now you're accusing me of not caring about you?" Billy clarified.

Jill barked that Billy should have consulted her about hiring Phyllis and said she was the last person they needed at Abbott-Chancellor. Phyllis walked in as Jill was talking about her. Billy informed his mom that Phyllis was there, but Jill told her to leave. Phyllis left again, and Jill made herself clear. She told Billy she was coming to Genoa City for Devon and Abby's wedding. Jill said by the time she got to town, Billy had to have fired Phyllis, made up with Lily, and given Lily her job back. "Or I swear, I will get rid of you and take back control of the company myself," Jill said.

At his apartment, Daniel told Chance to search if he thought he was truly necessary. Chance said he was just trying to get answers and give Daniel closure. Daniel noted that Lucy texted and said she wouldn't be home for a while. Daniel asked Chance to hurry up so they could put this part of the investigation behind them.

As Chance looked around, they heard a phone ring. It wasn't their phones, so Chance wondered if it was Lucy's. Daniel noted that she had texted him, so she must have had her phone with her. He said maybe Phyllis forgot her phone there and said he would call her. Before he could dial, they heard the phone ring again.

Chance could hear it coming from the liquor cabinet and opened the door. He picked up the phone and showed it to Daniel. "Recognize it?" Chance asked. "It looks like Heather's phone," Daniel said.

Chance asked if Daniel had gotten Heather's phone back. Daniel said he would have told Chance if that happened. "What's it doing here?" Chance asked. "I have no idea," Daniel said. Chance looked in the liquor cabinet again and pulled out bloody towels. "What the hell is this, man?" Chance asked. Daniel answered, "It looks like our towels. Is that blood?"
