On the Monday, May 19th episode of The Young and the Restless, Devon has doubts about Damian, Sally senses Amanda is hiding something, and Amanda encourages Phyllis to move on.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

At Nate’s apartment, Devon, Lily, and Nate discussed Amanda’s surprising announcement that she worked for Dumas. Amy and Damian arrived, and Lily gushed that Amy looked amazing. Amy remarked that it felt good being back with people she cared about, and Nate stressed that she was home.
Damian raved that his mom’s home cooking was better than the new restaurant they’d just visited. Devon observed that Damian and Amy seemed close, and he imagined it had been a relief for Damian to let go of his anger toward her. Damian admitted that he was grateful to have the chance to work things out with his mother. Amy and Damian hugged and exchanged words of love.
Lily revealed that she’d had paperwork drawn up detailing Damian’s job offer, and she suggested that he oversee Winters’ hotel chain. Damian saw synergy because the hotels were adjacent to concert and festival venues, and he was also interested in those areas. Nate declared that he thought it would be great for everyone. Damian was excited to get started after he had his lawyers look over the documents.
Devon inquired whether Damian knew Amanda Sinclair, but Damian claimed he’d never heard of her. Amy voiced surprise that Damian would leave his life in L.A. behind to move to Genoa City. Damian declared that he was ready for something new, and he proposed that he and Amy make Genoa City home. Amy found it hard to contemplate a move when she’d spent the past few years preparing for the end. She admitted that she’d considered the possibility of reuniting with Damian, if only for a fond goodbye.
Damian asserted that he and Amy had already missed out on enough time together, and he wanted to spend whatever time she had left with her. He credited Nate for agreeing to make the connection with him, and he enthused that it was starting to feel like a new family uniting. Damian offered to look for a place with room for both him and Amy.
Off to the side, Lily noticed Devon had been very quiet. Devon questioned whether there might be a connection between Amanda and Damian. Lily appealed to Devon to let Amy enjoy her excitement over having her son invite her to move in with him. Devon claimed he was just being cautious about Damian, since it seemed to be more than a coincidence that Amanda had resurfaced at the same time Damian had suddenly embraced Amy.
Lily said she’d gotten to know Damian better, and she trusted him. Devon hoped she was right, and he prepared to leave. Devon wished everyone goodbye and welcomed Damian to Winters with a handshake. Nate privately asked Lily if everything was all right, and she replied that things were great. He looked unconvinced.
Amy requested that Nate fix a shade in her room so she could take a nap. Once alone, Damian asked Lily if Devon was really on board with the idea of Damian working at Winters. Lily promised her brother would eventually accept it, and Damian inquired whether she trusted him. She replied that she was getting there.
An irritated Damian wondered what more he had to do to prove himself. Lily claimed she’d been joking, and she assured him that she trusted him and that she’d welcome him with open arms once his attorney looked over the paperwork. Damian remarked that it was starting to feel like a beginning as Nate listened from the stairs.
At Society, Amanda questioned why Phyllis had been trying to get in touch with Aristotle Dumas. Phyllis asked where Amanda had heard that, and Amanda revealed that she was the man’s legal counsel. A stunned Phyllis recounted that Dumas had been poking into people’s business in Genoa City. Amanda wondered what Phyllis was after by poking into his. “My entire future,” Phyllis replied.
Phyllis referred to the horrible year she’d had, and she thanked Amanda for the conversations that had gotten her through some rough nights. Phyllis continued that she’d quit working with Billy to create a new company with Daniel, but she needed someone with deep pockets who respected her vision. Phyllis chirped that Amanda just happened to work with the man who could help her. Amanda flatly stated that it wouldn’t happen.
Phyllis argued that Dumas hadn’t even met her, and she pleaded with Amanda to get her in the door for a moment of his time. Amanda explained that Phyllis’ messages had already gotten through to Dumas, and she’d sang her friend’s praises, but he wasn’t interested in starting a new business because he had other priorities. Amanda tried to convince Phyllis to let it go. Phyllis jokingly asked if Amanda knew her, and Amanda agreed to listen to her business ideas.
Phyllis rambled about having many little projects, and Amanda realized Phyllis had no idea what kind of business she wanted to create. Phyllis proclaimed that she was overflowing with ideas, including the plans she’d had to launch a new media company. Amanda informed her that Dumas already thought there were too many media companies out there, so it wasn’t an area he was interested in. Phyllis revealed that she knew Dumas had reached out to Billy because of Chancellor, not Abbott Communications.
Amanda refused to discuss Dumas or Chancellor any further. Phyllis squealed that it would be poetic justice if Victor and Nikki lost Chancellor after the sneaky way they’d acquired it, and she volunteered to provide Dumas with inside information that could help. Amanda reiterated that Dumas wasn’t interested in meeting Phyllis, and she encouraged Phyllis to find another investor.
Later, over the phone, Phyllis called Summer but covered her disappointment when she learned Summer was about to have drinks with her new hire. After hanging up, Phyllis contemplated calling Daniel before dictating a message to Nick, thanking him for what he’d said that day and letting him know she might take him up on his offer to talk.
Billy and Sally entered the Athletic Club, and she marveled at how much she’d enjoyed working during their walk in the park. He was distracted by something on his phone, and she complained that he wasn’t listening. She mentioned a few ideas she had about themes for Abbott Communications’ launch party, and she asked which one he liked most. He urged her to choose whichever one she liked best. Sally demanded to know what was wrong.
Billy insisted that he’d had a fantastic morning touching grass, and his mind was clearer because of Sally. She guessed that what Nick had said in the park about Phyllis bothered Billy. Sally noted that all the Newmans seemed to get under Billy’s skin, and she thought she was seeing what it looked like when he obsessed over something. Sally surmised that Billy felt guilty for firing Phyllis.
Billy denied that he was second-guessing his decision to let Phyllis go. Billy explained that his future was with Sally, and he wasn’t putting in his two cents because she didn’t need help to knock it out of the park. Sally pointed out that Billy had told Phyllis it was just a leave of absence, and he claimed that he’d only been trying to soften the blow. Sally reminded him that she’d blown up a career she loved to work with him, and she hoped it hadn’t been for nothing. Billy assured her that there was no scenario where he’d consider replacing her with Phyllis or anyone else.
Sally turned the topic to the launch party theme, and Billy said he loved her old Hollywood idea. Sally envisioned doing something exciting and contemporary while also making people feel comfortable. She proposed that they separate themselves from Newman Media by being cutting edge with a little retro, taking people back to a simpler time before there were millions of platforms vying for their attention.
Sally pictured a room full of men and women in 1950s attire, representing an age where decency and elegance could prevail in media again. Billy called her an inspiration, and he cooed that he didn’t feel like eating anymore. He suggested that they go up to her suite and not talk anymore. They headed upstairs together.
Later, Billy and Sally returned downstairs and ran into Amanda in the foyer. Amanda greeted Billy and dryly recognized Sally as the woman who’d teamed up with Tara to drive Phyllis’ daughter out of town. Sally swore she wasn’t the same person anymore. Billy shared that Summer had since hired Sally, so clearly, everyone had gotten over it. Amanda muttered that she’d forgotten how quickly people forgave in that town. Billy asked if his mother had sent her.
Amanda confirmed that she was in town for a meeting with Devon, Lily, and Nate as Dumas’ legal counsel. Billy asked if Jill had kicked Amanda to the curb, too. Amanda explained that she and Jill had parted on good terms upon Jill’s retirement. Amanda recognized that Jill selling Chancellor to Victor was a sore spot, and she was sorry. Billy questioned whether Amanda had had anything to do with his mother’s decision.
Amanda swore that she’d urged Jill to reconsider and give Billy another chance, and it had been an agonizing decision for Jill. Sally barked that Jill’s choice had been cruel and selfish. Amanda contended that there were two sides of the story, and Jill was in pain over the disintegration of her relationship with Billy. Billy snapped that his mother was the one who’d torched it, and he didn’t think he’d ever get over it. Amanda sympathized, but she warned that the only thing to regret with family was wasted time. She implored him to reach out and make peace before it was too late.
Billy changed the subject to what business Winters had with Dumas, but Amanda declined to discuss it. Billy questioned whether it had to do with him, since Dumas’ office had been stringing him along about setting up a meeting. Amanda said she didn’t know what Dumas had in mind for Billy, so Billy would have to ask him. Billy requested her help with that, and she volunteered to see what she could do.
After Amanda walked away, Sally grumbled that she didn’t care for Amanda. Billy conceded that Amanda was very direct, but Sally observed that Amanda was more indirect when she was hiding something. Billy agreed that the situation was getting very suspicious.
