Traci visited Crimson Lights to get a muffin for her nephew, Harrison. The novelist was surprised that Sharon was there, given her kidnapping ordeal. Sharon told Traci she still has nightmares. She added that it was therapeutic to talk about it; Traci offered to lend an ear. Sharon said she was on a break and that they could sit down and have coffee together. Traci said Alan would have a field day about Sharon's captor's choice of venue: a clinic. Sharon suggested that whoever her jailer was, it was someone who must have a background in psychology. A concerned Traci seemed taken aback.

Traci asked if Sharon ever spied her captor's face, but Sharon said no. She wasn't sure either if she and Phyllis would work well together and that they had to solve riddles. Traci felt it must have been a monster to get their jollies off this way. Sharon said there was more to it. She said it was as if the captor knew them and wanted the two women to resolve their anger towards each other.

Sharon noticed Traci's ring, so Traci explained that she and Alan were engaged. Sharon said she would focus on the silver linings related to her and Phyllis's captivity. She said this could be the beginning of a new relationship. Sharon said she had almost died twice, and the second time was from a gas attack. Traci flashed back to a text she saw on Alan's phone related to leaking gas.

Sharon got an idea. She wanted her and Phyllis to talk about their ordeal with Alan. "Unfortunately, Alan is in Paris right now," Traci deflected. Sharon pushed and asked if Alan could make time for them when he returned from Paris. Traci said Alan would want to do whatever he could to help. "Alan just might be my lucky charm," Sharon suggested. Traci hoped that he would be. Traci agreed that the madman who kidnapped Sharon and Phyllis needed to be taken off the street.

Phyllis confirmed to Nick and Summer at the Genoa City Athletic Club that she and Sharon were going to move on. Their anger and rage were left on the clinic floor. Phyllis said they don't have to label her dynamic with Sharon, whether it was friends or enemies.

Phyllis said she wasn't proud that she had let hate and anger rule her life and hurt the people around her. Summer said that didn't make her mom a bad person. Phyllis shared that she and Sharon were faced with the resentment of their past. "I was used to all the pain," Phyllis said. "But seeing the truth in myself? I wasn't expecting that."

Nick concurred with Summer that anger and resentment have hurt Phyllis and Sharon both. "It just took getting kidnapped and almost dying twice...to get there," Phyllis said about her decision to move on. She said she was not ready for sainthood and that these were baby steps that she was taking.

Phyllis said she won't have peace until her captor gets what's coming to them. She added that Sharon did what she had to do to save Phyllis's life. Nick pointed out that Phyllis saved her life, too. Phyllis said she had to admit that Sharon was not in her right mind when she framed Daniel. Nick told Phyllis that she was not alone. Phyllis admitted she did not know how to get rid of the nightmares. Nick told Phyllis she was doing everything right. Phyllis said she couldn't regain her emotions until she could look her captor in the eye and tell them they not win.

Sharon joined Nick, Phyllis, and Summer at the GCAC. Sharon misread a remark Phyllis made as she sat down, but she swore she was ready to make a new relationship with her. Nick said he saw hope between Sharon and Phyllis. Sharon recapped Traci's concern and suggested that Sharon and Phyllis get assistance from Alan. Nick said it wasn't a bad idea and Phyllis agreed.

Kyle and Claire woke up in bed together. Claire thought she'd overslept and would be late for work. Kyle said her boss would understand. Claire told Kyle she couldn't continue...she needed to get going. Claire said it was a good thing she had brought clothes with her. She said she liked that their relationship had progressed to this point. Kyle told Claire she was special. He said he had an idea.

Claire was not on board with Kyle's suggestion that they call in sick. She found it hard to resist his charm. Kyle ordered breakfast and coffee from room service. Claire initiated a playful pillow fight.

Kyle and Claire enjoyed their meal from room service, which included blueberry muffins and bacon. The two picked up their phones to check in with work.

Jack and Nikki ran into each other outside of Society. Nikki asked Jack how the redo of the Abbott house was coming along. Jack told Nikki that the late Katherine would be thrilled that Nikki was doing so well at work. Nikki wants some truth. Jack said he never missed an opportunity to rail at the mustache, but this time, he's not at fault.

Jack said he'd deny it if Nikki repeated it, but he's okay with what Victor did on his last power grab that brought Billy to his knees. Jack added that he wasn't okay with the way Victor did it. He admitted that Billy was now in a better place, which would not have happened had Victor and Jill pulled the rug out from under his brother.

Nikki was stunned that Jack was grateful. Jack pointed out that Lily was back with her family and Nikki was where she belonged. Nikki said Victor was letting her thrive at Chancellor. Jack said things would be even better if Victor would just leave Kyle and Claire alone. If that were to happen, there'd be peace between the families, Jack suggested.

Jack suggested to Nikki that she help Claire and Kyle in regards to Victor accepting them. Nikki said she was all for supporting true love, but if this all crashed down, she would be the one to face Victor's wrath. Jack wondered how long it had been since Nikki had feared Victor's wrath.

Nikki said she'd had more experience than most regarding Victor. She said she'd do her best on Claire's behalf. Just then, Jack and Nikki received texts from Kyle and Nikki about their not coming to work. Jack and Nikki put together the idea that the two are spending time together alone. "Young love," Jack said. "Divine," Nikki added. They agreed to let Kyle and Claire have their day off.

Kyle and Claire were happy that Jack and Nikki seemed to be okay with the texts they sent them. Claire asked Kyle if he was going to turn out to be a bad influence on her.

Nikki decided to get to work as her assistant wouldn't be in. Nikki thanked Jack for his honesty. "We are the oldest and dearest of friends," Jack said. "I will always be honest with you." Nikki agreed to do the same and hoped that it would never be challenged by Victor.

Alone, Traci called Alan and left a voicemail, wishing him a good flight. She claimed she could not join him because she had an issue with her editor. She hung up the phone, then worried, "This is not possible," she said to herself, "This cannot be." Jack came to Traci's side at Crimson Lights. She asked her brother to help her realize she had not made the biggest mistake of her life.
