On the July 11 episode of The Young and the Restless, Adam returned home to Genoa City, Holden comforted Claire, and Kyle and Audra got closer
What happened on The Young and the Restless

In France, Audra shot down Kyle’s idea that they approach influencers, pointing out that said individuals are shilling for their products and might not be interested in promoting Jabot or Vibrante. Kyle mused that they could just write the influencers a check, but Audra countered that she was on a budget. He noticed she was wearing her perfume. She refused to tell him anything, but offered a closer inspection. Cane interrupted the two as Kyle leaned in closer.
Cane said he was surprised they were working together so closely because he understood that they were romantically involved with other people. Audra maintained to Cane that her and Kyle’s relationship was strictly professional. Cane said he knows and likes Nate. He told Audra that he knew Kyle from their days working together at Jabot, but he knew nothing about Audra. She explained that Victor was backing her company, Vibrante, and arranged for her to come to Cane’s estate. Audra said she could be very persuasive.
Kyle said he’d use the words invasive and presumptuous instead of persuasive. Audra quipped that Kyle thinks he’s a comedian. Cane said it was fascinating watching Kyle and Audra spar like an old married couple. He added he was curious about their business connection. Kyle said he was trying to figure out the elements of the fragrance she was wearing. Audra said that would never happen.
Audra reminded Cane that her pitch was for him to announce the winner of the Jabot and Vibrante fragrance. Kyle pointed out that once Cane’s identity as Dumas was revealed, the competition would be moot. Cane asked why Vibrante and Jabot would enter a competition when Jabot is so much more established.
Cane commented that cozying up to a competitor was a strange way to do business. Audra and Kyle continued to spar. Cane interrupted them and said he was sold. He said their banter was a selling point. Cane said he’d put off revealing he’s Dumas for Kyle and Audra to do their perfume campaign. Audra and Kyle celebrated that their war was on. They went to Claire’s cabin.
At Crimson Lights, Claire let Holden know that Cole was gone. Holden shared that he lost his dad to cancer years ago. He doesn’t talk about it even with Damian. Holden said his father was his best friend in the whole world. Claire said she and Cole were close, too, but she conceded that they hadn’t known each other long. Claire said that despite the terrible things she’d done, Cole was there for her. Claire said it was hard for her to believe that she was never going to see him again or hear his terrible jokes.
Holden said he’d be lying if he said the pain ever goes away. Holden said loved ones would want them to keep going. Claire said she felt a little better talking about it. Holden pointed out that it was good that Claire was out and about. He suggested that they have breakfast together.
Holden asked Claire what she liked. Claire said she liked reading detective novels and horseback riding. She has her very own horse, a gift from her grandparents. Claire told Holden about her dad. Holden said Cole seemed like a true renaissance man. Claire recalled advice that Cole gave her about horses. She didn’t listen and ended up flat on her back. Only her pride had been hurt. Claire said she couldn’t recall laughing that hard in her life. Then, she listened to him about everything.
Holden asked Claire if she minded if he put his contact in her phone in case she wanted to reach out to him. She agreed. “For what it’s worth, I think the more people you’re around, the better,” Holden advised. He added that it would take some time to adjust. Holden started to leave, but Claire stopped him and accepted his invitation to dinner.
Meanwhile, Adam and Chelsea reunited. Chelsea told Adam he looked exhausted. He asked Chelsea how Cole was doing. “Adam, he didn’t make it,” Chelsea gently told a stunned Adam. She said Vicki couldn’t reach anyone. Adam asked how his sister was doing. Not great, Chelsea responded. Adam said Nikki sensed something was amiss.
Chelsea was surprised that Nikki was so friendly with Adam. Chelsea and Adam agreed Cole was a good guy. Adam had no idea that this was going to happen. He saw Cole being transferred back to Genoa City as a good sign. He lamented that he gave his family false hope. Chelsea said it was a good idea for Adam to see Victoria. Chelsea changed the subject by asking, "Who is Aristotle Dumas?"
Chelsea was stunned to learn that Dumas was Cane. Adam gave her credit for calling it. She said both their guesses were right. Chelsea wondered if Colin was even truly dead. She wanted to know why Cane chose to reveal his true identity at the time he did. Chelsea pointed out that Cane bought up real estate in Genoa City for a reason and poached subdivisions of Chancellor Industries. Chelsea said she trusted Cane as far as she could throw him. Adam said they were going to keep digging and learn everything they could about Cane’s plans. He said there was a huge story in all this and, for now, it was all theirs.
Chelsea couldn’t believe Adam walked up a mountain. Adam said Cane had a private train. She wanted to know if Victor was impressed. Adam couldn’t tell. He thought Victor was too busy to take in the scenery. Chelsea asked if Victor had commented on their decision not to do a hit piece on Billy. Adam said there wasn’t a word. Chelsea commented on how convenient it was for all of Cane’s guests to be trapped while he bought up the town.
Chelsea added that Lily must be devastated. Adam said he didn’t see her, but he did see the family and Phyllis. Chelsea said Phyllis would keep quiet if it was in her best interests. Adam wanted to run the story on Cane being Dumas, but he was holding off. Chelsea said she was impressed by the fact that Adam was going to wait before publishing the story.
Adam said Billy and Sally were stuck there, so they couldn’t launch their story. Adam guessed that Cane must have a point person in Genoa City. Chelsea saw Holden and Claire walk in, and she told Adam she believed she knew who Cane’s contact was.
Adam was impressed that Chelsea had a theory on Holden. Chelsea said she knew that Holden and Audra had a past in Los Angeles. Chelsea told Adam that Holden was flirty with her. He asked if he should be jealous. Chelsea admitted he was not hard to look at. Chelsea said that Holde was a shark in the water. Her money was on Holden being Cane’s spy in town.
Chelsea greeted Holden with a good morning. Adam gave his condolences to Claire about Cole. He said he would stop by and see Victoria. Adam and Holden were officially introduced. Holden said he was a big fan of Newman Media. Chelsea commented that Holden was a fan of a lot of Genoa City businesses. Adam asked Holden about working with Damian and Dumas.
Holden said Dumas fired him out of the blue. He added that he and Damian weren’t exactly buddies anymore. Adam wondered if there was a place for Holden at Winters. He said that since Devon was his brother-in-law, he’d be happy to put in a good word with him. Holden made it clear he no longer worked for Dumas.
Claire thanked Chelsea for being there for her mom. Chelsea offered to be there if they wanted to hang out or talk. Adam invited Holden to drop by Newman Media to discuss opportunities. Holden wondered if that meant Adam was offering him a job.
Adam said that wouldn’t happen just yet, but they could have a discussion. Holden said he’d let Adam know if he wanted to talk. “Well played, sir,” Chelsea privately told Adam. Back at Adam’s office, Adam pointed out that Holden lied by saying he’d never met Dumas. Adam felt protective of Claire while Kyle was away. Chelsea noted that Claire could take care of herself.
Holden told Claire a job with Adam would be worth looking into. Then, Claire apologized and said she had to go and see her mom. Holden told her not to apologize. He suggested Claire make a list of small items to do because that helped get him out of his head. Claire started to tear up. She said it was nice talking to someone who wasn’t her mom.
Claire said she was concerned not just because Kyle was away, but he was away with Audra. She asked Holden if she should be worried. Holden said if she trusted Kyle, then it wouldn’t be a problem. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in a train cabin on Cane's estate, Audra and Kyle toasted to their business future as she moved closer to him.
