Lily met with Devon at Crimson Lights. He updated her about the wedding venue change, noting that Victor wouldn't tell him where the wedding would be. Devon said it would be the same secrecy for Lily once she was working with Victor. Devon asked if she had anything in writing yet saying she would be CEO of Chancellor. Lily got defensive, but Devon pointed out that Victor would not hand over a company as big as Chancellor Industries to anyone unless their last name was Newman.
Lily said she wasn't a Newman, but Neil was her dad, which meant something to Victor. Devon wondered why Lily thought she was more special than anyone else Victor had used and tossed aside. Lily said Victor wanted the best person to run Chancellor, and that was her. She pointed out that no other Newman was available.
Devon told Lily about the exchange he witnessed between Nikki and Victor. He listed why Nikki would be an obvious choice for Victor to make CEO. Lily told Devon he was wrong and was sure Victor wouldn't do that to her, but she looked concerned.
Nikki brought Victor coffee and told him that she was feeling restless. Nikki said she missed working. Victor told Nikki that she would soon have more work than she could handle. Nikki wished they didn't have to be sneaky around Lily. "Once Chancellor Industries is in our hands, all the details on how we got there will be forgotten," Victor said.

Claire stopped by the Abbott mansion and found Jack distressed. She told Jack that she was also concerned about Kyle. Claire said that Kyle admitted to setting up Audra to be fired. Although Claire didn't know if Audra deserved it, she was alarmed at Kyle's attitude.
"He got so much pleasure out of taking her down," Claire explained. She said Kyle was vengeful, ruthless, and cold. Jack lamented that Kyle had turned away from his family and ran to the man with all those characteristics. "Your grandfather," Jack said.
Jack informed Claire that there was a history between him and Victor that went back decades. "He knows that this whole situation with Kyle is the best way to hurt me, and he's right. It has hurt me," Jack said sadly.
Jack explained that there was no such thing as a fair fight with Victor. He told Claire nothing was sacred or out of bounds with her grandfather. Jack admitted that Victor's visceral hatred for him was stronger than ever. Claire said she had never seen the side of Victor that Jack described.
Jack told Claire she was safe as she was a Newman and Victor always cared for family. Claire asked how she could help get Kyle out from under Victor's influence. Jack didn't want her to get involved; he just wanted her to know what was happening. Claire said she needed to help now that she knew what he told her.
Chance questioned Daniel again and asked if it was true that Daniel and Heather fought the night she died. Chance explained that Sharon told him she was at the apartment that night. Daniel thought it was strange that Sharon never told anyone she was there. Chance said Sharon witnessed Heather being upset, and Heather told Sharon she and Daniel had had an ugly fight.
Daniel insisted that Sharon would be the last person in the world Heather would confide in. Daniel said that he and Heather would have disagreements but would always talk through them. He told Chance that his only comfort was that the last thing he and Heather said was, "I love you, and I'll see you later."
Chance asked if Daniel and Heather's "squabbles" had been happening for a while. Daniel reiterated that things had been stressful for both of them thanks to job hunting, Lucy's behavior, and Sharon being on the warpath. Chance said Sharon came by the apartment that night to apologize. Chance wondered if Daniel didn't believe Sharon.
Daniel relented that Sharon may have come by, but he refused to believe that Heather would have talked to Sharon about anything personal. Chance suggested that Heather was upset about something that night but told Sharon about an ugly fight with Daniel to cover for it.
Chance said it would make sense for Heather to leave if she was upset. Daniel said he and Heather always talked about things and didn't just run off and text the other. Chance suggested there were things about Heather that Daniel didn't know. "Is it possible she was seeing someone else?" Chance asked.
Daniel was shocked at Chance's suggestion that Heather was having an affair and was killed by a lover. Chance asked Daniel why Heather had gone to the river and how her phone had been accessed by someone who knew her intimately. "You're the brilliant detective, you tell me," Daniel snapped. Chance continued to ask Daniel why the person with Heather's phone refused to come forward.
Daniel was adamant with Chance that Heather loved her life and their family, and he said that Chance was way off base. Chance said he would need confirmation before moving on. Chance asked to search the apartment. Daniel angrily told Chance he was disrespecting Heather, her privacy, and her memory. "I think you know your way out," Daniel said.
Nate arrived at Crimson Lights and told Devon he passed Lily and she looked upset. Devon suspected Lily knew he was right about Victor. They agreed that Victor couldn't be trusted and that it would crush Lily to learn she was being used.
Nate told Devon that he had come back from seeing Amy Lewis. He explained that her text was about wanting to give him mementos of his father. Amy had told Nate that she used to work with Paul Williams and Andy Richards. She had also dated Nate's dad. Devon asked if the mementos were worth the trip. Nate said they were not, and Amy gave him a weird vibe. Nate felt Amy was trying to get a better sense of who he was, but he didn't know why.
Lily visited Victor at Newman Enterprises and told him that she had serious problems with their partnership. She demanded to get their agreement in writing. "It feels like you're stringing me along," Lily said. Victor told Lily she had nothing to worry about but wouldn't commit to a written agreement. Lily asked if Victor intended to make Nikki the CEO. Victor told Lily that the conversation was a moot point until he had control of Chancellor. "If that's your answer, that's not good enough," Lily said before storming out. Victor rolled his eyes.
Lily's next stop was the Athletic Club where she saw Nikki. They discussed how Nikki warmed Lily up with a card from Katherine. Nikki agreed with how she befriended Lily. Lily said she felt like she was being played and wanted the truth. She asked Nikki if she planned to use Lily and then push her out.
"Yes, the plan all along was for me to be CEO. I hate that Victor used your anger at Billy to manipulate you to help him, but I went along with it, so that's on me," Nikki admitted. Nikki said she hoped to convince Lily to stay and work with her. Lily was furious. "I went to Victor and offered to help him because you made me feel safe," Lily said. She told Nikki that she thought they were on the same team. Nikki implored Lily to think about her offer before making a rash decision. "We can still do great things together," Nikki said. "I'm done with both of you," Lily replied.
