Judith Chapman (Gloria Abbott Bardwell, The Young and the Restless) is taking on the role of director in two upcoming plays—simultaneously.

Chapman will direct Shunned and Sundew next month. On Facebook, Chapman reposted an announcement by Michael Pacas that said, “Award Winning Actress and Director Judith Chapman is realizing her PASSION PROJECT, 10 years in the making.”

The announcement continued, "A second production of her award winning 'SUNDEW', which speaks to protecting our GARDEN OF EDEN from the ravages of progress and greed. And 'SHUNNED' which speaks to ending the cycle of hate for our fellow human beings."

Both plays are written by Larry Parr, who will reportedly attend the performances. The shows run on alternating nights at the Palm Canyon Theatre in California from October 4 to 13. Tickets are available through the theater’s website.

The theater announcement also gave brief descriptions of the plays. For Shunned, Pacas' post read, “All the characters in SHUNNED are, in some way, shunned themselves, emphasizing the overriding theme of the universal feeling of isolation. The play presents a realistic portrait of Amish life and philosophy, and problems facing the community in today’s world."

Actor David Brooks announced that he was in the cast, and he described the play in more detail.

"Shunned is a coming-of-age story following Levi Yoder, a young man just getting a peek at the outside world after having returned from his Amish rite of passage known as Rumspringa. When a family tragedy occurs, Levi must decide whether he will be baptized as Amish and remain with his parents on their farm or pursue a new dream in New York and leave his traditional life behind," Brooks's post read.

The theater promotes Sundew as "A powerful, touching story of an eccentric old woman, desperately clinging to wooded property she believes is the real, Biblical Eden. SUNDEW is about the spiritual ramifications of ecology, and it is also about personal sacrifice for the protection of the gift of earth."

The last time Judith Chapman appeared on The Young and the Restless as Gloria Abbott Bardwell was on the Thanksgiving episode that aired on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. She spoke to TV Insider at the time about her return and what it was like to shoot with the other actors who play her family on the show.

"It’s like we haven’t missed a beat. Lots of hugs, how are yous?" Chapman said. "Steve the director that day said, 'You did that in one take!' I looked into the camera and said, 'Did you expect anything else?'” Chapman added.

"We laugh and giggle, then, we rock and roll. It was magical." - Judith Chapman on her 2023 appearance as Gloria on The Young and the Restless.

On his Instagram page, Christian LeBlanc, who plays Gloria's son Michael Baldwin on The Young and the Restless, posted a picture of the stars filming together with the caption "THE FAMILY THAT SLAYS TOGETHER… #baldwinfisherfamily"
