Comings and Goings: Mishael Morgan Returns to The Young and the Restless as Amanda Sinclair

Daytime Emmy-winning actress Mishael Morgan is coming home to The Young and the Restless. Per Deadline, she's taping at the show's TV City studios this week, and her episodes will air later this spring.

Will Amanda and Devon Reunite?

Morgan last appeared on the CBS soap opera a little over a year ago in February 2024. She first debuted on the show in 2013 as Hilary Curtis, a woman who came to Genoa City with an agenda. She was the daughter of the late Rose, a woman who knew Neil Winters (the late, great Kristoff St. John) from when they were battling alcoholism.

Hilary wrongly blamed Neil for her mom's passing. In time, she realized he wasn't at fault, and the two began dating. Hilary was also attracted to Neil's son Devon (Bryton James). Blinded in an accident and married to Hilary, Neil got his sight back just in time to discover his son and his wife making love.

Neil revealed he knew about the familial infidelity when they were all on a plane that later crashed. In time, the parties moved on, and Devon and Hilary — affectionately called 'Hevon' by the couple's loyal fan base — found their way back together.

The couple was set to map out their future together after Hilary became pregnant with Devon's child. Unfortunately, Hilary was in a car crash that resulted in the loss of her baby and her life. Devon and Hilary managed to marry on her deathbed.

Morgan left Y&R, but she wasn't gone from the show for very long. She first returned as either a ghost of Hilary or a figment of Devon's imagination. Then, Morgan returned to the show full-time as the enigmatic Amanda Sinclair, an attorney.

The resemblance between Hilary and Amanda was not a coincidence. It turned out that Amanda and Hilary were twins and that Rose wasn't even their mother — Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey) was.

Dear Abby

Amanda and Devon's relationship went south after he began a relationship with Abby Carlton Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway), now his wife. Could the honeymoon be over for Abby and Devon? Ordway shared on social media last year that she is off-contract with the show (but will continue to be seen). Perhaps Devon and Amanda will get back together? Or maybe attorney Amanda will be in Genoa City for a legal storyline?

Morgan won the 2022 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys. She is the first (and only) Black actress to take home the coveted statuette.

The actress, whose credits include Chicago Med, can be seen in the Hallmark movie Hearts Around the Table: Shari's Second Act, which premieres on Saturday, March 29.
