At Society, Billy and Phyllis said awkward hellos to Adam and Chelsea as they passed their table. At the bar, Phyllis couldn't stop talking about how obvious it was that Billy had a problem with Chelsea and Adam. She asked if Chelsea had left Billy for Adam. Billy didn't want to discuss his personal life but did share that he and Chelsea had broken up. Phyllis relentlessly speculated until Billy told her that he regretted hiring her. Phyllis told Billy she was his friend and would listen if he wanted to lean on her.
Billy admitted that Chelsea had cheated with Adam in Baltimore. Phyllis empathized with Chelsea about the situation that had led to her bonding with Adam. Billy said that he knew Chelsea had agonized over what had happened, while Adam had just denied everything and stonewalled Sally. Phyllis said, "You don't really blame Chelsea for this, is what I'm hearing. Maybe you could forgive her." "If it were anyone other than Adam, then maybe. He always finds a way to ruin my life, and she thinks he's a decent person," Billy said. Phyllis told Billy that everyone made mistakes. "I think you should believe her and let her make it up to you," Phyllis said.
At Adam and Chelsea's table, Adam acknowledged that Billy had a right to be angry, but Adam thought Billy would have tried to put on a better act in public. Adam asked if he and Chelsea were supposed to feel guilty every time they saw Billy and Sally.
Chelsea said she thought Connor had accepted that they would never reunite as a family. Adam said Connor sensed a bond between them. Adam noted that having their parents together was every kid's fantasy. Chelsea said that considering everything that had happened the last time the three of them had lived together, it might not be Connor's fantasy at all. Adam asked Chelsea if she ever thought about reuniting. Chelsea asked Adam if he was kidding. "I have been too mortified and wracked with guilt to be thinking about you or me or any future for the two of us," Chelsea admonished. "Same," said Adam.

Chelsea advised Adam that they needed to be honest with Connor, and she suggested talking to him that night. When Chelsea said she didn't want to get Connor's hopes up, Adam made a face. She pressed Adam to tell her what was on his mind. Adam told Chelsea that he had lied to her and that he had considered reuniting. Adam said he wanted more than a family; he wanted a real relationship with Chelsea as a couple.
"It was more than desperation and fear that night," Adam said. Chelsea kept telling him to stop, but Adam persisted. Chelsea thought Adam had a lot of nerve trying to have that conversation when Billy was nearby. Adam wouldn't stop, so Chelsea yelled at him and left. Billy stormed across the restaurant and charged up to Adam. "What did you do now, you son of a bitch?" Billy growled.
Mariah told Sharon that she was in Madison and outside Sharon's hotel room door. Sharon panicked and was speechless for a moment. Sharon made excuses and contradicted herself. She told Mariah the meeting had been canceled and that she would see Mariah at home. After she abruptly hung up on Mariah, Cameron told Sharon she should not have done that.
Mariah called back and suggested that since it was a beautiful day in Madison, they should hang out. Sharon tried to make more excuses, but Mariah backed her into a corner. Sharon snapped and accused Mariah of coming to check up on her. Sharon said she wasn't spinning out, but she knew that Mariah, Nick, and Faith were conspiring to trick her into coming home so they could ambush her. Sharon said she knew they wanted to interrogate her about her mental health.
Mariah told her mom they loved her and were worried about her. "The way you're treating me is making me feel worse, and it has got to stop. Do you all really think that I'm that far gone?" Sharon asked. Mariah insisted that no one was trying to trick Sharon, and Mariah asked if they could continue the conversation in person.
Sharon admitted to Mariah that she was not in Madison. Sharon said she was tired of living under a microscope and felt suffocated around Nick, Faith, and Mariah. Sharon promised she wouldn't hurt herself but needed time to think about her life. "I'm going to go off the grid for a little while," Sharon said. She said she'd never gotten to visit Sedona, and she thought it would be a good time to do so. Sharon told Mariah not to track her down and to give her the space she needed to heal. "I will reach out when I'm ready," Sharon said before hanging up.
Cameron took the phone from Sharon and said that what she had told Mariah had been necessary. He reminded Sharon that he was the manifestation of her thoughts—the thoughts that she should never share with anybody else. Cameron said Sharon didn't need Nick and the girls breathing down her neck, and he reminded her that it was time to plan. "They love you and will forgive anything you do, but now you need to focus. We need to get to work," Cameron said.
At Newman Enterprises, Victoria asked Victor if he had reconsidered her idea to buy out Billy. Victor said no, and Nikki agreed. "Billy can't be trusted to follow through with the deal, even if he agreed to it," Nikki said. They told Victoria that she couldn't always bail Billy out.
Nick came into Victor's office and announced that Sharon was struggling. He told his family about Sharon's public outbursts and that he wondered if she was taking her meds. Nick suggested it was time to bypass Sharon and go straight to her doctor. Victor wondered if Nick should take Faith home with him so she wasn't around Sharon. Nick disagreed and pointed out that Faith was a 21-year-old woman. Nick said that Sharon didn't need to be shut out.
Victoria and Nikki agreed that going to Sharon's doctor for the facts might be the best idea. Nick said he appreciated being able to go to them for counsel, especially about Sharon. Victor, Nikki, and Victoria told Nick they only had his and Sharon's best interests at heart. "That's what family is for," Victor said intently.
Nick told his family he felt he could come up with a workable strategy for his family. When Nick got to the elevator, Mariah called. Nick was stunned when Mariah told him that Sharon had lied and had never gone to Madison. "I don't know where, but Sharon is planning on disappearing, and I'm really, really scared," Mariah said.
After Nick left, Victoria said that Nick's concern for Sharon spoke to the man he was. "To what cost?" Nikki asked. "There is no cost where Nick is concerned. He is protecting his family, and I am going to do the same," Victoria said as she marched out of the office. "Where do you think she is going?" Nikki asked. "To warn Billy Boy Abbott," Victor said.
