The Young and the Restless casts Christopher Cousins as a psychiatrist

Someone from Ashley's past will be appearing on-screen starting later this month. Will he be able to help Ashley heal?

Christopher Cousins has been cast on The Young and the Restless in a newly created that might help Ashley begin to heal.

Cousins will play the role of Alan Laurent, a psychiatrist and someone Ashley befriended during her time in Paris.

This will not be Cousins' first daytime role. In his best-known soap stint, he appeared as Cain Rogan in 41 episodes of ABC's One Life to Live between 2009 and 2012. In 1986, he appeared as Greg Houston on Another World. In 1990, he played Colin Crowley on As the World Turns. More recently, he popped up in a handful of episodes of General Hospital as Dr. Warren Kirk.

Outside of daytime, he appeared on a recurring basis as Ted Beneke on the series Breaking Bad and as Gary on UnREAL. The actor has more than two dozen other guest spots in primetime and about a dozen made-for-television appearances.

Cousins will first air Tuesday, April 30.
