The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan made the best post-Valentine's Day announcement: she's expecting her second child.
What seemed like an ordinary middle of the week day in the middle of the month turned into something quite special thanks to a big announcement. Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) is expecting her second child.
The actress made the big reveal by posting a photo of herself and one-year-old son Caden, and in the photo, Egan is showing off her "baby bump."
"Looks like we're just destined to have August babies," Egan captioned the photo. "So grateful and excited to be adding another cub to our family of Leo baby boys. Caden's gonna be a big brother."

As you might expect, Egan's daytime family, both past and present, quickly jumped in with congratulations and lots of festive emojis. Well, except for one castmate who had a hilarious response. Egan's Y&R co-star Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher) jokingly wrote, "I really wanted to be the one to break the news but HUGELY excited for you all regardless."
Rikaart wasn't the only one with jokes. "One more funny story for you," Egan said in an Instagram video. "I was going to post about my pregnancy on Monday... and then Rihanna happened at the Super Bowl and so I was like, 'I can't follow that.' But then my husband is like, 'You're comparing yourself to Rihanna?' And I'm like, 'No. I'm not comparing myself to Rihanna. She's a queen! [But] Rihanna just announced her pregnancy suspended 60 feet in the air at the biggest event -- the world's greatest stage. I can't follow that.'"
"So I gave it a few days," Egan added with a laugh.
Egan joined The Young and the Restless in November 2011 after a lengthy run on All My Children as Annie Chandler, where she made her daytime debut in June 2006. Her work on AMC earned her three Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy nominations. She's received two more in the same category for her work on Y&R, as well as one in the Lead Actress field.
Egan has been married to husband Matt Katrosar since 2014.
This article has been update to include Egan's six Daytime Emmy nominations.
