Though rumored for over a month, Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) took to social media to update fans about her status on The Young and the Restless. Morgan debuted on Y&R in 2013 and scored a history-making win at this year's Daytime Emmys.
It's been the subject of discussion among fans for over a month, but now the cat has been let out of the bag. Emmy winner Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair; ex-Hilary Curtis) has confirmed that she is no longer on contract with the show.
"A lot of people noticed that my name is not on the main credits anymore and I wanted everybody to know... I decided back in December that I wanted to take a bit of a step back from the show," Morgan shared in an Instagram story.
In mid-August, a seemingly innocuous Twitter post showing Y&R's credits scroll caught fans' attention when the alphabetical list jumped from Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott) to Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman).

Morgan's decision to step back from Y&R came six months before the actress made history as the first African American woman to win the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress. According to Morgan, she felt she needed a change.
"I just feel like that at this point in my life and at this point in my career I wanted to mix things up a little bit, but Y&R will always be home," Morgan continued.
Morgan assured fans that she would continue to make appearances on the show, something the actress referred to as a "safe place to land."
"I have so appreciated this safe place to land that they've given me so I know that I can be back they are like family," Morgan said. "I'm still on [Y&R]. I'm... going to be on recurring so you'll see catch me in Genoa City."
Morgan made her Y&R debut in June 2013 as Hilary Curtis. Five years later, the actress stunned fans by walking away from the show.
"There were many factors that [led] to this decision, but ultimately, five years just felt right to me," Morgan said at the time.
Morgan returned to Y&R in September 2019. With Hilary having been killed off on-screen, this time around, Morgan was tapped to play Amanda Sinclair, a character that turned out to be Hilary's theretofore-unknown twin sister.
While Morgan didn't reveal what she might be doing to "mix things up a bit," she did tease that fans should "keep looking out for new things" from her.
