The Young and the Restless has cast One Life to Live alum Julia Montgomery (ex-Samantha Vernon) in the guest-starring role of a real estate agent, and her appearance comes with a fun twist!
Get ready for a blast from the past on The Young and the Restless. Former One Life to Live star Julia Montgomery, who played Samantha Vernon in the late 70s, will be appearing on the CBS soap opera this Wednesday, March 23.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Montgomery has taken on the one-episode role of a real estate agent named Tanya, and her casting comes with a fun twist: the actress is actually a licensed real estate agent in real life!
"The director allowed me to change around a few words to make [the scene] more realistic," Montgomery reveals. "I felt like I had free rein, which was fun."

When it comes to portraying her real-life, non-acting career abilities in Genoa City, Montgomery follows in the footsteps of Y&R alum Lauren Woodland. Following her initial run as fictional attorney Brittany Hodges, Woodland became a real-life lawyer and has returned to the show on several occasions to play out fictional court scenes as Brittany.
For those wondering why OLTL recast the role of Samantha in 1981, Montgomery reveals that she chose to leave the ABC soap opera. She explained to SOD that while she and the cast had "a ton of fun rehearsing," her main scene partner, Phil Carey (Asa Buchanan), "always used the teleprompter," which made her "so bored toward the end because all of my scenes were with Phil."
After departing OLTL, Montgomery went on to appear in several Revenge of the Nerds films and in series such as Who's the Boss?; Magnum, P.I.; Murder, She Wrote; Columbo; Cheers; Dadly; and Wrong Number.
