The Young and the Restless is bringing Dr. Ben "Stitch" Rayburn back to Genoa City, with Sean Carrigan set to reprise the role very, very soon.
The Young and the Restless' Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) might soon be rocked by an unexpected blast from the past. Sean Carrigan is reprising his role as Abby's ex-husband, Dr. Ben "Stitch" Rayburn!
The twist could be a good one: both fans and Abby have been anxiously waiting for her current hubby, Chance (last played by Donny Boaz), to return to town, and it's been unclear how the couple's surrogate storyline involving Devon (Bryton James) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) will play out. Having Stitch rather than Chance (or, in addition to Chance?) show up in Genoa City definitely adds a much-needed soapy twist to the baby story that has left a lot of viewers scratching their heads.
As Y&R fans may recall, Stitch was first introduced in 2013 through Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), with whom he had served in the Army. Stitch made a couple of visits to Genoa City and acted as Dylan's best man at his wedding to Avery Clark (Jessica Collins), but he decided to stay in town after he realized that Dylan was suffering from PTSD. Upon meeting the handsome doctor, Abby tried to set him up with her mother, Ashley (Eileen Davidson), but Stitch ended up with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) instead. Their relationship was cut short, however, when Victoria realized she was pregnant -- and the baby was Billy's!

Distraught over the news, Stitch ended up having a one-night stand with Ashley but soon found himself feeling close to Abby, as well. A mother/daughter/Stitch triangle played out, with Stitch marrying Abby while trying to forget about his love and attraction to Ashley.
Not long after marrying Abby, Stitch was shocked to hear that his ex-wife had died in a car accident, and the couple's son, Max, came to live with him. Max blamed Abby for his mother's death because Abby had been on the phone with her during the car crash. So, when Abby announced that she was pregnant with Stitch's baby, Max set up a tripwire that caused her to fall down the stairs and miscarry. Abby and Stitch struggled to keep their relationship alive after the tragedy and decided to get a divorce.
Stitch was last seen helping Devon with his memory loss following a car accident in 2017, and -- as fans know -- Abby is currently waiting for the arrival of both her baby and an M.I.A. Chance. Will Stitch's re-emergence be a godsend for the anxious mom-to-be, or will the doctor's presence end up exacerbating her drama? Keep tuning in to Y&R to find out!
Following his time on Y&R, Sean Carrigan starred in the TV series American Vandal, Everyone Is Doing Great, NCIS, and Lucifer. He also appeared in the film Ford v Ferrari.
What do you think about Sean Carrigan reprising the role of Y&R's Stitch? How do you think Stitch's return might affect Abby and the current surrogate storyline with Devon and Mariah?
