Could Billy and Lily be the next Genoa City supercouple? The Young and the Restless' Jason Thompson opens up about the "fireworks" that could be on the horizon.
Right before new episodes of The Young and the Restless went off the air in April, viewers were treated to some fun scenes in which Lily (Christel Khalil) and Billy (Jason Thompson) both started working at a new media division of Chancellor Enterprises -- and immediately clashed! Oftentimes early signs of friction lead to fervent romance between soap opera characters, so once the CBS soap opera resumes production, might fans see a romantic spark between Billy and Lily?
In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Jason Thompson opens up about the two characters' shared connection and what could lie ahead in terms of a romantic rendezvous happening when the characters grow closer.
"Everything Lily has been through -- the car accident, the jail time, everything with Cane [Daniel Goddard] -- she's above judging anybody's actions. I think she really understands Billy, and that's what he gravitates to," Thompson shares.

Lily seems ready for something new, having divorced Cane and returned to Genoa City sans her twins, who have gone off to college. Billy may also be ready for something new, having broken up with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and being pretty much rebuffed by his new crush, Amanda (Mishael Morgan). So, will the pair's boardroom antics lead to bedroom antics?
"They have a common denominator now, because of all the emotional stuff they've both been through, which I think can be exciting about two people that like working together," Thompson teases, adding, "There can be fireworks or something more subdued than that. We'll see."
