Y&R asked Michael Damian to return as Danny Romalotti; will it happen?

Could Danny Romalotti be coming back to Genoa City? Portrayer Michael Damian reveals that execs at The Young and the Restless have asked him to return.

Michael Damian has been keeping himself quite busy as a director since he was last seen as The Young and the Restless' Danny Romalotti in 2013. He's currently publicizing his latest film, High Strung Free Dance, which is in theaters now. And while doing so, he let slip an interesting nugget that has soap fans salivating.

During an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Damian reveals that he was asked to reprise the role of Danny, which he originated in 1981 and has played on-again, off-again since that time.

"They reached out to me before but the timing wasn't good," he shares, adding that he's definitely not opposed to a Y&R return in the future. "If we can time it out right and it's in between films, absolutely. It'd be wonderful."

In fact, Damian even has a good idea as to what kind of trouble Danny could get into if he returned to Genoa City. The actor would love to mix it up with the character's exes, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Christine (Lauralee Bell).

"Danny could give Phyllis a piece of his mind, and just let him give Cricket one more kiss," he muses. "That would be fun."

As it stands, it doesn't seem like there are any solid plans to bring Damian back as Danny in the near future -- but that doesn't mean viewers can't support the Genoa City alum. Fans can check out High Strung Free Dance, which stars Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman actress Jane Seymour; Disney heartthrob Thomas Doherty; and Eastenders actor Ace Bhatti.
