Y&R's Carmen Argenziano has died

Carmen Argenziano, known for The Godfather, Stargate, and his role as The Young and the Restless' D.A. Dennis Ellroy, has died. The Pennsylvania native was 75.

The daytime community is mourning yet another actor from The Young and the Restless. Carmen Argenziano, who played the recurring role of District Attorney Dennis Ellroy, passed away on Sunday, February 10.

The Pennsylvania native got his start in the soap opera industry back in 1970, playing Hank Smith on The Young Lawyers. He later went on to appear in scores of television shows like Cheers, LA Law, Melrose Place, Sisters, ER, 24, and Stargate SG-1, the latter of which earned him a cult following. He played General Jacob Carter in 25 episodes of the sci-fi series and was deemed one of the show's best-loved recurring stars.

Argenziano took on the recurring role of Genoa City District Attorney Dennis Ellroy in 2008 and shared scenes opposite stars like Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom). He last appeared in 2009.

The actor's film credits included The Godfather Part II, The Accused, and Gone in 60 Seconds.

"It is with a heavy heart and more sadness than anyone can realize right now that I announce the passing of client Carmen Argenziano at the age of 75," states Event Horizon Talent's official Facebook page. "While Carmen was a client, he was also a good friend. While he was a class act and a consummate gentleman at the events he was booked for, he was also a caring and generous person. While I had known him for more than a decade, it wasn't until the past three years as a con representative for him that our trust and friendship grew and blossomed. He truly treated me like family, and that sentiment was returned. Please join me in sending thoughts and prayers to Carmen's family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Argenziano is survived by his three children: two sons and a stepdaughter.
