Y&R's Kate Linder honored by the Southern California Motion Picture Council

The Southern California Motion Picture Council has chosen The Young and the Restless' Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) as the recipient of this year's President's Award of Special Merit for Lifetime Achievement in the Entertainment Industry.

Longtime The Young and the Restless actress Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) is thrilled to share that she has been chosen as the recipient of the President's Award of Special Merit for Lifetime Achievement in the Entertainment Industry by the Southern California Motion Picture Council.

The California native took to social media with the news, stating that receiving the honor was "a lovely and meaningful surprise."

The Southern California Motion Picture Council is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1936 to promote the best in motion pictures. One of the oldest Hollywood organizations, the group has been encouraging the production of diverse and international family-oriented films and television programs for almost 80 years. It also promotes civic-minded, educational, and cultural programs of exceptional merit and presents Golden Halo awards for the best in movies, television, stage plays, and the performing arts each year.

Linder took on the role of Y&R's Esther Valentine in 1982 and has become an integral part of the CBS soap opera in the past three decades. In addition to performing, Linder is also well known for her work with several different charities, including the ALS Foundation, March of Dimes Canada, and the Los Angeles Mission.
