Y&R's Alyvia Alyn Lind cast as pre-teen pyromaniac in Netflix series Daybreak

The Young and the Restless' Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman) has taken on a fiery role in the upcoming Netflix dramedy Daybreak.

Congratulations are in order for The Young and the Restless' Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman), who has landed a plum role on Netflix's Daybreak.

The dark comedy, based on Brian Ralph's graphic novel of the same name, finds 17-year-old high school outcast Josh (Colin Ford) searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. Josh is joined by a ragtag group of misfits including a pyromaniac 12-year-old Angelica (Lind), and Josh's former high school bully Wesley (Austin Crute), now turned pacifist samurai. Josh and the group try to stay alive amidst the horde of Mad Max-style gangs (evil jocks, cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors), zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at him.

In addition to Lind, the series has also cast Matthew Broderick, Sophie Simnett, Gregory Kasyan, Krysta Rodriguez, Cody Kearsley, and Jeant Godlock for its ten-episode first season.

Lind began her acting career as Nick and Sharon's daughter Faith in 2011. The young Y&R star has since gone on to star in major primetime series like Revenge, Transparent, and Master of Sex. Her film credits include Blended opposite Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, and the Dolly Parton films Coat of Many Colors and Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.

UPDATE (October 7, 2019): Netflix dropped the official teaser trailer for Lind's Daybreak and revealed that the premiere date for the fiery drama will be Thursday, October 24. As a character in the trailer says, "[It]'s about to get weird!"
