TISSUE ALERT: Shick's Y&R wedding extravaganza will have you reeling

The Young and the Restless viewers should cue the Kleenex, because Nick and Sharon's wedding spectacular is both a trip down memory lane and good, old-fashioned crazy soap opera.

Dear Soap Central readers,

We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the bonding of two very special The Young and the Restless characters: Joshua Morrow's Nicholas Newman and Sharon Case's Sharon Newman.

In the years they have been together, their love and understanding for each other has grown and matured... though that doesn't mean their latest trip down the aisle will reflect that. After all, both the bride and the groom are keeping life-altering secrets from one another -- which means they're in for a disaster, whether they say their "I do's" today or not...

As viewers wait on pins and needles to see if Nick's secret (that he slept with Phyllis) or Sharon's secret (that she was involved in J.T.'s murder) will blow the couple's union apart before or after the nuptials; the beloved pair have been prepping for their third wedding (if you don't count their original elopement in 1995, that is) for some time now.

Fortunately for fans, the CBS soap opera has gone above and beyond the usual matrimonial excitement and has shared some behind-the-scenes moments from the wedding spectacular, set to take place on today's episode.

The first takes viewers into the wardrobe department at Y&R, where costume designers Elif and Kay custom made Sharon's wedding gown, which is made from Chantilly lace imported from France.

"A lot of work went into it. We were doing fittings several times a week," shares Case, who also reveals that Kay made the wedding gown Sharon wore during her very first wedding to Nick back in 1996. "I had never had a dress custom made for me, ever. Not a wedding gown, nothing. That was really an honor... A lot of work into that, and the dress was gorgeous."

As for the gown Sharon is wearing today, designer Elif Inanc says they wanted to design something very sleek and very modern, but also very Sharon.

"Sharon's style is very feminine and flirty, and it can be conservative at times, too," Inanc says. "And I think we've accomplished that in this dress."

"It's not somebody else's wedding gown," Case concurs. "It looks right on me. It looks like it was meant for me."

The second very special Shick video clip that Y&R has released in celebration of the couple's big day features Morrow and Case taking a trip down memory lane. The pair is shown some of Nick and Sharon's most-loved on-screen moments over the years and asked to give their comments and remarks as the video rolls.

"This should be pretty interesting; we don't know what they're going to show us!" Morrow quips as the video begins.

Adds Case jokingly when the couple's very first scene comes on the screen: "Look at me, I look exactly the same!"

So, will Nick and Sharon once again successfully become husband and wife during today's special episode? Everything points to trouble at the moment, which means the CBS soap opera could very well give viewers an unexpected twist and give Shick a happily ever after... for now, at least! Be sure to tune in to The Young and the Restless today to find out what's in store for one of Genoa City's most celebrated couples.
