Surprise! Y&R announces yet another fan favorite's return

Hold onto your hats, because Lauren Woodland (Brittany Hodges) is the latest star announced to be returning for The Young and the Restless' upcoming forty-fifth anniversary.

Casting activity for The Young and the Restless' upcoming forty-fifth anniversary is shaping up to be a lot like a can of Pringles: once you pop, you can't stop.

Shortly after news broke that the CBS soap is bringing back David Scott Lago (Raul Guittierez), Kelly Kruger (Mackenzie Browning), Jaime Lyn Bauer (Lorie Brooks), Janice Lynde (Leslie Brooks), and Meg Bennett (Julia Newman) for its birthday this March, it was announced that Lauren Woodland is reprising her role as Brittany Hodges for the special event.

The Nevada native, who earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress for her Y&R role in 2004, was last seen in Genoa City back in 2005. When Brittany's husband, Bobby Marsino (John Enos), was killed, the character moved to New York City with their son, Joshua.

Woodland hasn't been very active in the entertainment world since leaving Y&R in 2005, having guest-starred on only a handful of series like Cold Case and Living with Fran since that time. However, her rsum prior to joining Y&R in 2000 is quite extensive. Not only did she star as Janelle on the General Hospital spin-off Port Charles in 1997 and as Sara Cummings on Sunset Beach in 1998, she was on a variety of television series like Alien Nation, Brooklyn Bridge, and Brotherly Love.

Y&R was created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell and made its debut on March 26, 1973. The series, which has remained in the position of America's number one daytime drama for the past twenty-eight years, revolves around the rivalries, romances, hopes, and fears of the residents of the fictional Genoa City -- a Midwestern metropolis dominated by the Newman, Abbott, Baldwin, and Winters families.

UPDATE (February 22, 2018): There are even more anniversary returns coming to The Young and the Restless. Kelly Kruger and David Lago will reprise their roles as Mackenzie and Raul. Lauren Woodland is also headed back to Genoa City as Brittany.
