INTERVIEW: Y&R's Alyvia Alyn Lind on her Emmy nomination

The Young and the Restless' Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman) on the emotional year that led to her first Emmy nomination and how she plans to celebrate.

The Young and the Restless' Alyvia Alyn Lind (Faith Newman) may be young, but she certainly knows how to deliver big time talent. That's why it's no surprise that the nine-year-old -- who has also starred in the television shows Revenge, Transparent, and Masters of Sex, as well as the film Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love -- has landed a Daytime Emmy nomination. And she tells Soap Central she can't wait for the ceremony taking place at the end of April.

soapcentral.com: Congratulations! How do you feel about getting a nomination?

Alyvia Alyn Lind: Thank you so much! I feel so honored to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy. I've been working on Y&R since I was three years old, and every time I go to work, I feel like I'm visiting my second family. I don't feel like it's work at all. So to be nominated for something I love so much -- well, it's just crazy and amazing!

soapcentral.com: How did you find out that you had been nominated?

Lind: Well, my mom was working in Dallas, so she found out first because they are two hours ahead. She said that she was getting so many calls the second it aired that she had to squeeze in a call to me to give me the great news. I didn't even know that they were announcing the nominees that day, so her phone call was a complete surprise to me. Then, I watched it on The Talk in L.A. a few hours later. I think that's when it really sank in, and I called my sisters and then my grandma. My whole family is so excited!

soapcentral.com: What scenes did you submit?

Lind: Faith had a crazy year with so much going on in her life. She lost Sage [Kelly Sullivan], found out her brother was someone else, ran away from home, moved out of her mom's house and then her dad's... and finally in with her grandparents. She got to sing on the show again with her grandma and had a lot of emotional scenes with her grandpa [Victor, Eric Braeden]. So I'm lucky because I had some great scenes to submit.

soapcentral.com: Did anyone help you narrow down your submission choice, or was it based on your own instincts?

Lind: I asked a few people for suggestions on what to submit, but in the end, I submitted the scenes that were my favorite. It was a tough decision, though! The writers were great to Faith this year.

soapcentral.com: Did you celebrate the night of, after finding out you'd been nominated?

Lind: My sisters and my mom are all working out of town on different projects, so we all agreed that when everyone is back in L.A., that I'll take everybody out for sushi! In our family, it's a tradition that when someone gets good work news, that we take the whole group out. So, it's definitely my turn!

soapcentral.com: Do you have any idea what you might wear to the ceremony yet?

Lind: Ahhhhhh! I have to visit my favorite store in L.A., Un Deux Trois. They have beautiful formal dresses for girls my age, and they are so great at dressing me for events. This is a big one, so looking for a dress is next on my list. I'm so excited!
