Jess Webb joins Y&R

Actress Jess Webb is heading to The Young and the Restless as a new character named Alex Dettmer.

The Young and the Restless has reportedly cast actress Jess Webb as the new character Alex Dettmer.

The actress' IMDb page has her listed as the latest Genoa City player, and while her face may be new to daytime viewers, the character she'll be playing isn't wholly mysterious. As observant fans of the CBS soap may recall, Christine (Lauralee Bell) mentioned Alex in a conversation with Dylan (Steve Burton) at the beginning of January, noting that Alex is the gatekeeper Dylan will have to get past if he wants to take down Luthor Fisk. The twist is that Christine referred to Alex as a man, so Dylan might not get what he bargained for when he and Alex come face to face.

Webb, who'll be appearing in at least five episodes of Y&R, has a list of credits that includes shows like They Live Among Us, The Exorcist Files, and Futurestates.

When contacted by Soap Central, a Y&R spokesperson reminded us that the show doesn't comment on casting rumors.
