Cady McClain dishes on Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct

Soap opera alum Cady McClain (ex-Kelly Andrews, The Young and the Restless; ex-Dixie Cooney, All My Children) shares information on her powerful documentary, Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct, made with the help of Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio, General Hospital) and Jon Lindstrom (ex-Kevin Collins, GH).

Girl power is a huge movement at the moment, with everyone from Beyonc to presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton speaking out on the importance of female equality. So now is the perfect time for soap opera alum Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Cooney, All My Children; ex-Kelly Andrews, Y&R) to debut her latest project: a documentary that covers the world of female directors.

Called Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct, the film delves into the work lives of the "women who are on the front lines of the field: from major award winners and those in the vanguard of television and feature films, to graduated students and frustrated auteurs. Considering all aspects of the directing experience for women, [audiences] will learn how they drive through obstacles creative, cultural, and professional."

McClain serves as writer, producer and director of Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct, and both Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin Scorpio, General Hospital) and Jon Lindstrom (ex-Kevin Collins, GH) serve as associate producers for the film, which is also intended to be a "peer to peer mentorship" for anyone (of any gender) looking for guidance and real-world experience as they pursue their dreams of becoming a visual storyteller.

The documentary includes interviews from over 50 directors and other powerful entertainment giants, including Sarah Gavron (Suffragette, Brick Lane), John Wells (ER, West Wing), Meera Menon (Equity), Lesli Linka Glatter (EP/Director, Homeland), Deborah Del Prete (Producer, Ender's Game, The Spirit), Betty Thomas (the highest grossing female director, The Brady Bunch Movie, John Tucker Must Die), Bethany Rooney (directed 200+ hours primetime TV & co-author of Directors Tell the Story), and trailblazers like Lizzie Borden (Born In Flames, Working Girls), Oscar-winner Sarah Kernochan (Marjoe), Emmy-winner Anne Makepeace (I. M. Pei: Building China Modern, Robert Capa in Love and War), and many more.
