The Young and the Restless' Michael Muhney (ex-Adam Newman) returns as honorary chairperson for this year's L.A. Cancer Challenge Walk/Run.
The Young and the Restless' Michael Muhney (ex-Adam Newman) is no longer on the daytime scene, but that isn't stopping him from tenaciously working to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. The Emmy-nominated actor is returning as the honorary chairperson for this year's L.A. Cancer Challenge 5K/10K Walk/Run. This is the eighth year Muhney has been involved with the event.
The fundraising run, which takes place on Sunday, October 25, at the Warner Center Park in Los Angeles, is one of Southern California's largest races and is proudly sponsored by the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research. Muhney, who lost his uncle to pancreatic cancer in 2006, has relentlessly and generously donated his time to raise money and awareness for the cause. He encourages his fans to join Team Muhney by donating to the cause, which fans can do here.
"Each year, we are incredibly honored to have Michael suit-up and join us in the fight to find a cure for pancreatic cancer," said Lisa Manheim, executive director, Hirshberg Foundation. "His presence at the L. A. Cancer Challenge and his continued support for pancreatic cancer research has been powerful." She added, "We are quite fortunate to have him on our team."
Nearly 4,000 men, women and children of all ages are expected to attend the LACC with many of them dressed in festive Halloween costumes. To date, the LACC has raised nearly six million dollars for pancreatic cancer research. The charity race is a great way to start celebrating Halloween, with fun for the whole family. Highlights will include a Fit Family Expo, Halloween Kids Zone with pumpkin decorating, live entertainment, and a Children's Halloween Parade & Adult Costume Contest.
