Soap vet lands Empire gig

Hollywood actress Vivica Fox (ex-Stephanie Simmons, The Young and the Restless; ex-Carmen Silva, Days of our Lives; ex-Maya, Generations) is giving the steamy world of soap operas another try.

Hold onto your hats, Empire fans, because a va-va-voom soap vet is on her way to the popular series.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Vivica Fox (ex-Stephanie Simmons, The Young and the Restless; ex-Carmen Silva, Days of our Lives) has joined season two of the show as the oldest sister of Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). According to the publication, Fox's character searches out her little sister for an unknown reason.

"Cookie's [family members] are trouble, to say the least," Empire's executive producer, Ilene Chaiken, teases.

Watch for Fox, who also starred in Kill Bill and Independence Day, to debut on episode 8 of the series' second season, which premieres on Fox on Wednesday, September 23, at 9PM ET.
