Original Y&R cast member Tom Hallick returning

The Young and the Restless is welcoming back original cast member Tom Hallick. Hallick, who last played Brad Eliot in 1978, will appear as part of a nod to Y&R history.

Tom Hallick, an original cast member of The Young and the Restless, is returning to the CBS soap. But the actor will not be playing neurosurgeon-turned-reporter Brad Eliot, a role he last played some 36 years ago.

Later this month, Hallick will appear as a "kindly truck driver who helps an on-the-lam Phyllis find her way back to Genoa City," according to TV Guide Magazine's Michael Logan.

The scenes will pay homage to the very first episode of The Young and the Restless, which aired March 26, 1973.

"They found the same kind of truck and dug out the old script -- only now I have the truck driver's dialogue and Gina has mine," Hallick remarked. "It was weird recreating the scene that way, but really pretty wonderful."

Hallick will appear on The Young and the Restless on September 26.
