The first of a rumored many casting changes under The Young and the Restless' new executive producer Jill Farren Phelps appears to be underway. Kevin Schmidt, who has played Noah Noah off-and-on since 2008, revealed on Twitter that the CBS soap is recasting the role.
In March 2011, The Young and the Restless confirmed that it was "un-recasting" the role of Noah Newman, and rehiring Kevin G. Schmidt. Now, it appears that the show has had a change of heart.
In a post on his Twitter page, Schmidt seemingly indicates that his time on The Young and the Restless has come to an end.
"Hey @Official_YandR, How many times you gonna try and bring in a 'New Noah? There's only one," Schmidt said in a post directed at the show's official Twitter account.

Schmidt also apologized to fans that watched the show, hoping to see him, before closing his post with "Peace."
In September 2010, Luke Kleintank was hired to take over the role of Noah Newman. At that time, Schmidt's Noah had been off-screen for seven months. Schmidt learned that his former role had been recast from some of his followers on Twitter.
Schmidt was not the "original" Noah -- the role was first played by infant twins in 1997 -- but the actor had appeared as Noah from mid-2008 through early 2010. He returned to the show in April 2011.
As of post time, the show had not confirmed Schmidt's exit. The casting shuffle would be the first such move under the show's new executive producer Jill Farren Phelps. In 2010, Emmy nominee Drew Garrett (ex-Michael Corinthos, GH) was rumored to be consider for the role that ultimately went to Kleintank.
In a recent edition of Soap Opera Uncensored, Nelson Branco hinted that at least one major storyline planned for Noah by recently deposed head writer Maria Bell had been nixed by the show's production company.
