Ted Shackelford is out as The Young and the Restless' Jeffrey Bardwell -- but only for a short time. Kin Shriner, who appeared on Y&R in 2004, will assume the role for several episodes next month.
The Young and the Restless has confirmed that there will be a temporary casting change next month. Soap vet Kin Shriner will briefly replace Ted Shackelford in the role of Jeffrey Bardwell.
"Kin Shriner is temporarily stepping in on Y&R as Jeff Bardwell because Ted Shackelford is not available," a Y&R spokesperson said in a statement. "Kin's episodes will begin airing in late April."
The reasons for Shackelford's unavailability were not disclosed.

Shackelford, known for a lengthy run on the primetime soap Knots Landing, joined The Young and the Restless in February 2006 as William Bardwell. Less than a month after the character was killed off in July 2007, the actor began appearing as William's twin, Jeffrey.
Shriner previously appeared on Y&R in 2004 as Harrison Bartlett. He has also appeared on As the World Turns and The Bold and the Beautiful, but he is best-known for his role as Scott Baldwin on ABC's General Hospital and Port Charles.
