The Young and the Restless has been selected as a recipient of this year's AFTRA National American Scene Award in the Daytime Drama Category, according to AFTRA National President John Connolly. The award recognizes television, radio and sound recordings producers who portray the diversity of the American scene in a realistic and balanced manner in their programming. These awards, which are the highest honor that AFTRA bestows on its industry partners, will be presented during the union's 59th National Convention in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, August 16, 2003. "[Y&R] has been selected because of its dedication to diversity in employment exhibited by the range of diversity in the show's cast lineup and background performers throughout the past two years," said Connolly. "On behalf of everyone at the show, I am very proud and honored to receive this most prestigious award in recognition of the work we do," said executive producer David Shaughnessy. Congratulations Y&R on this amazing achievement!
