Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Damn Doug, you really can't catch a break, oh wait, yes you can. Doug's days are going from bad to worse, and if we thought the hole he was in was bad before, it’s deeper. He might as well be playing minecraft with his life. To help with going cold turkey on gambling, Doug has been making petty bets with the nurses at the hospital, betting whether he can shoot a basket with a paper ball into a trashcan. It was working well until his pal or not so pal Randy rang him offering him expensive scotch and his seat being ready for him at the table.

Doug told Randy no and to tell his boss Joey to head west till his hat floated. Well, not quite but it had the same effect. Earlier Randy had a conversation with Joey about Doug being a surgeon and with that kind of salary he would be able to pay Joey back. Joey wasn't interested in what Doug could pay him, rather what Doug could get him. Today we learnt Joey's real motivation. Doug’s wife Vanessa. Not her exactly, but laundering money through her real estate business. Joey told Randy that it was Doug's problem to deliver exactly that. And if Randy had thoughts on telling anyone, Joey said he wouldn't hurt Randy, he’d just make him wish that he had. Then in the same breath, asked after Randy’s ex and his kid. The threat was real. Back at the hospital Doug's conversation with Randy had shaken him badly and a surgery went wrong and Doug lost his patient, his patience and punched the nurses desk in frustration, breaking his hand. From the fire to the blast furnace Doug is in deep doo-do.
