On Beyond the Gates, fans are divided between liking Tomas and not being okay with how he spends time with Kat, someone his girlfriend despises. Is what he’s doing ok?
Tomas Navarro on Beyond the Gates

Tomas Navarro (Alex Allegria), the handsome young lawyer from Bill Hamilton Esq., is certainly treading a fine line on Beyond the Gates. On one hand, he is most definitely interested in Kat Richardson (Colby Muhammed), who is the daughter of Ted (Keith D. Robinson) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) but by the same token he has a soft spot for Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) and the more he learns about her, the more he wants to get to know her. So, how is this wrong? Well, Kat and Eva are not friends; they may be half sisters because of their father's affair, but that's as far as any bond goes. Kat asked Tomas to stay away from Eva and added that she is just as responsible for her mother's broken heart as Ted is. The next thing we see is Tomas and Eva sitting at Uptown, and he has his hand on top of hers. Kat saw this and was justifiably angry at that.
We get what you're trying to do, Tomas, but it’s looking more and more like this soft spot for the downtrodden and misrepresented is actually becoming a budding friendship with possibilities of more, at least Eva might think so, even if that's not Tomas’ intention. Fans of Beyond the Gates have been active on the Soap Central Message Boards and are discussing this. Let's dive in and have a look.
“I think Tomas and Eva are going to be a couple, and a strong couple at that. Kat's reaction when she accidentally bumped into Tomas and screamed at him before she saw who he was is just another example of what an unbearable snob Kat is, and I'm sure that Tomas has noticed Kat's constant catty attitude along with her other supposed attributes. Eva and Tomas have very strong chemistry together, and Tomas is ALWAYS drawn towards Eva whenever they're in the same room/space. I'm definitely rooting for a Teva union, because a Tat union is not interesting to me at all. Eva and Tomas simply have more to talk about and they seem to get along better than Kat and Tomas do.” – lionwoman
“I like Tomas too! He is sexy, had a nice voice and beautiful eyes! He is kind and thinks about other people feelings...Eva hasn't done anything to him so why should he not be supportive to her and I too love that he told Kat that he wasn't gonna stop being kind to Eva just because Kat asked him to stay away from her! I also like that Tomas didn't want to listen to the recording! I wonder if Eva will go to Tomas if she needs an attorney to represent her should that recording leads Detective Jacob to arrest her!” – valued contributor zenmaster5
His being a nice guy isn’t a problem; it’s the fact that he’s showing too much interest in another woman when he’s supposed to be dating Kat. He should be supporting her instead of coming to Eva’s defense at every turn. He’s got so much emotional attachment towards Eva, which means you know what’s coming.
“And as far as him being faithful, I don’t know. He’s showing signs of disloyalty towards Kat. Only person he seems faithful to is Bill, who’s his boss, so that makes sense but bro, if you’re saying you want to build something real with Kat, you gotta support her and be there for her emotionally as well. Her family was done wrong by Eva, which also affected Kat. She warned everyone and nobody gave a you-know-what. She was proven right and it’s still all this caping Tomas is doing for Eva. Kat needs to let him go. Let him get with Eva and then regret it. But still, I like Tomas. And he’s my eye candy.” – KatinTheHat
Who will Tomas choose?

I have to agree with the last one, On Beyond the Gates Kat’s family was done wrong by Eva and Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), and if he wants to be Kat’s man, then supporting her through this time is what he needs to do. Still, as for being nice to Eva and hearing her out, he may be the only one that does, and Eva’s only chance to have her name not tossed around for Laura's (Destiny Love) incident, on the road or in the hospital. Tread carefully, Tomas, or you too may end up in the firing line and become collateral damage of Leslie's maligned schemes. Wrong or right, weigh in below in the comments.
