Beyond the Gates: How long will Leslie's reign continue?

On Beyond the Gates, Leslie is showing us a lot of sides to her personality, with and without disguises. And none of them, we fear, are stable.

Beyond the Gates of sanity

Beyond the Gates' Leslie is insane. We all know it, but somehow, we love her anyway. Do we get the appeal that Ted saw during their affair years ago? Perhaps we do — everyone loves a bit of entertainment and living on the edge. Leslie lives on the edge of sanity, though. Last week, we saw her sneak into the hospital with yet another alias, Lulu, and inject potassium into Laura’s IV, causing her to have a heart attack. Doctors are stumped as to what could've happened to cause the event, but persist, nonetheless that Laura now has to stay in the hospital for an extended amount of time so that they can monitor her heart and ensure she is on the up and up.

How many wigs does Leslie have? How was she able to just waltz into a hospital, undetected, inject someone with something, and then just leave?! Well, to that I say, if anyone is able to pull it off, of course it's Leslie. Leslie is in a league of her own, one that she created in her head. It truly makes one wonder if she ever considered that there are alternate ways to secure and keep Eva (Ambyr Michelle)'s job as Nicole(Daphnee Duplaix)'s assistant without harming Laura. Perhaps we don't need (or want) an answer to that, actually.

Leslie also acts helpless when Ted tracks her down and follows her home to threaten and then pay her. Leslie continues the ruse that she aborted the baby from their affair. Of course, nowadays, we are under the impression that the baby is Eva, although the jury is still kind of out on whether or not she is truly Ted’s daughter. Thus far, we’ve just had to take Leslie’s word for it, but with the way she’s been acting this entire time, can we really trust Leslie’s word on, like, anything? This latest showdown between Ted and Leslie may have been a peak into how their relationship (if you can call it that) was. Leslie puts on one of her (many) faces, Ted maintains his dominance while trying to keep Leslie quiet about their affair, Leslie demands money, and Ted gives it to her. And, somewhere in between those happenings, they conceived a child together.

Eva was fully on board at the beginning of this intense scheme to "get back" at those who wronged Leslie, Ted being number one. But is Eva still on board? Leslie told Eva that she didn't hurt Laura on her bike and also denied that she hurt Laura again while she was in the hospital, but is Eva learning just how deranged her own mother is? Will Leslie get the chance to take Ted down? Or will Eva take Leslie down before she can do any more damage?

Leslie has, of course, already lost her mind (long ago, I fear), but could she also be losing her own child? And, does she care? It would appear that Leslie will stop at nothing to see that Ted's life is absolutely ruined beyond repair, no matter the cost, to anyone. As if we needed any further proof of that, last week supplied us with just a bit more. But, how long will Leslie be able to just prance around town and wreak havoc, unchecked?

Catch Leslie's latest shenanigans on Beyond the Gates, weekdays on CBS and Paramount Plus.
