Here's what went down Monday, May 19, 2025 on Beyond the Gates when Kat chose her vendetta against Eva over Tomás, Diego shocked Vanessa and Pamela, and Leslie danced around Jacob's questions about Laura's accident.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Dani and Pamela continued to win big at the Lakeview Casino while Joey told Doug he would go into business with Vanessa if Doug didn't pay him back. Joey called it a morality play for Doug when Dani convinced Pamela to quit betting while they were ahead. Before Doug could stop Joey from calling Vanessa, Dani approached and asked Doug why he was at the gambling establishment. Doug pretended to get his own call; Dani excused herself but briefly watched as Joey set up a meeting with Vanessa. Joey mockingly asked Doug if he wanted to join them.
At Uptown, Vanessa was on the phone with Nicole, again having to convince her not to impulsively sell her house just because she was furious with Ted. Diego drew near; Vanessa dispassionately asked how he was. “Like you care,” Diego sniffed. He was there to meet a date who wasn't afraid to be seen with him – it was Pamela, whom he dipped back into a deep kiss. Vanessa seemed bothered. Diego led Pamela to a table and explained that he had only been trying to make Vanessa, whom he'd been seeing, jealous; Pamela reminded Diego that Vanessa was married, even if that was a fact of which Vanessa needed constant reminding. Diego promised he wouldn't spontaneously kiss Pamela again; she asked him if he had ever considered modeling.
Meanwhile, Joey met with Vanessa, who remained perturbed that Joey had questioned her fidelity and her marriage. Joey smiled that he merely appreciated that Vanessa was focused on getting her needs met. If something were to happen between them, he didn't want there to be confusion – only ecstasy. Doug, having followed Joey, watched Joey coming on to his wife. Seeing Vanessa responding, and Joey caressing her arm, Doug stepped in, telling Vanessa that their daughter, college student Deanna, needed them because she had experienced her first heartbreak. Joey left the parents alone, after which Doug divulged that Deanna was fine. There had been no heartbreak...at least, Doug hoped there hadn't been.
Vanessa was incensed that Doug had lied about their child – then realized he had done so because he was jealous of Joey. Mrs. McBride remarked that it had been a long time since their marriage had rated high enough with them for jealousy to be a factor; she continued that their excellent lovemaking recently hadn't changed their relationship. Vanessa finally admitted that she was seeing other men, and hoped that Doug was seeing other women. Doug maintained that he wasn't, but Vanessa knew that something was otherwise occupying his time. He acknowledged that fact, yet didn't elaborate. Vanessa swore they would always come home to each other despite other partners and expressed relief that all the cards were on the table. Doug looked on silently.
Ted met Andre at Orphey Gene's and discussed prep for Eva's birthday celebration; Ted didn't want Eva getting caught between him and Leslie. Moreover, Ted was dismayed that Leslie was blaming Eva for everything when Leslie had orchestrated his downfall in the first place. Eva joined the men and was surprised when Ted presented her with a birthday gift. Andre let them be and Eva told Ted she had stopped by his hotel while the maid was cleaning his room and seen an urgent note Kat had left for him.
Kat was on her phone in the country club, telling Chelsea she had figured out a way to “deliver them from Eva” when she ran smack dab into Tomás, who had just finished a workout. Kat was upset that she had seen Tomás “all over Eva,” but Tomás made it clear that he wasn't going to shun Eva just because Kat had ordered him to. He had only been trying to comfort Eva by placing his hand on hers in the wake of the destruction Leslie had caused; Kat wondered if Eva had claimed responsibility for any of her own destruction. Tomás was stunned when Kat stated that Eva had tried to kill Laura.
Tomás was dubious as to the reason Leslie would have chosen Kat to make that revelation to, but Kat hoped that Eva was in handcuffs already, thanks to Kat giving her recording to Jacob. Tomás begged off hearing the audio of Leslie, not wanting to get in the middle. Kat grumbled that Tomás didn't want his image of Eva as the victim to be tainted; the lawyer retorted that labeling Eva a murderer without definitive proof wasn't fair, and the words of an unreliable third party couldn't be taken as evidence. Tomás shifted gears and admitted it was challenging to be so close to Kat without getting to kiss her, which he did; Kat ignored a phone call from Ted as she and Tomás made out.
Navarro was glad to be kissing Kat again and shared his observation that they had lost some momentum, letting Kat know it wasn't because she was a virgin. He felt that they should focus on getting to know each other and not let all “this other stuff” distract them. With Tomás in workout gear instead of suits like usual, his tattoos were visible, so Kat asked about them. The one on Tomás's forearm, he explained, he had had done to mark his time serving in the Navy. Tomás asked Kat to dinner, but she rainchecked in favor of finding out if Jacob had arrested Eva.
Tomás was disappointed when Kat added that she could only fully concentrate on him once she'd gotten Eva out of their lives; he said he'd be there when Kat was ready, but pointed out that Eva would still be Kat's half-sister, even if Eva was in jail.
Eva appreciated the glamorous framed photo of herself at Nicole's awards gala that Ted had given her, but Eva didn't want to be the lying girl depicted, who was wearing Kat's dress. Ted said that the girl in the photo was his daughter, and he wished he had known about their connection sooner.
Dani threw Andre onto her bed and showered him with casino chips. After making love, Andre admitted he was hungry, prompting Dani to joke that she'd lost her touch if he was thinking about food while she was lying there naked. Andre suggested they dine at Uptown, but Dani knew Pamela was there and didn't want to run into her; she felt her friend would be mad she hadn't confided in her about Andre. The photographer was ready to tell everyone they were together, but sensed that Dani didn't feel the same way. Dani assured Andre that she wasn't ashamed of him and that she adored having sex with him; Andre wanted to know if there was anything to them beyond that.
Andre confessed that, with other women, he'd have been long gone, but he kept coming back to Dani because things were different with her. Dani shared how she had lost her identity with Bill and wanted time to figure out who she was before she could consider another meaningful relationship. Andre played it off as he readied to leave, but Dani could see that he was visibly hurt.
Ashley came home to loud music but was surprised to see that Derek had been housecleaning. Derek apologized for being a slob and hoped he and Ashley could reset. Ashley was amenable until she saw that Derek had used a steel wool pad to scrub her stainless steel refrigerator. Derek found himself in deeper when it turned out he had thrown out Ashley's lunch; she blew up harder. Derek noted that Ashley hadn't given him her opinion on his idea for them to get a bigger place, but she remained quiet while she ate a different meal and Derek worked to buff the scratches out of her fridge.
The nurse eventually told the firefighter that she liked her place and didn't want to move – but that wasn't the issue. Derek felt he wasn't allowed to make mistakes and cut to the matter: Ashley didn't want him living with her. Ashley denied it and reiterated that she loved Derek; as he reciprocated that love, he was of the opinion that they were more important than refrigerators and their contents. Ashley relayed that she had carefully chosen everything for her apartment, and that when Derek didn't seem to care about those possessions, it felt like he didn't care about her. Maybe they had moved in together too fast.
Derek countered that they had been together quite a while and never used to clash as they'd been doing – it was like Derek couldn't do anything without annoying Ashley. When Derek asked if Ashley still wanted them to be together, she couldn't answer; Derek understood the silence and revealed that his asking to move in had been meant as a precursor to marriage. He supposed it was better they find out they were incompatible now instead of after exchanging vows, though it hurt. After Ashley left, Derek began packing, while Ashley called in sick from the hospital and went to Uptown. Andre found her there in tears and asked her what was wrong.
At the station, Jacob began to question Leslie about Laura; Leslie breezily said she was terrible with names. “I'm sure that can be difficult when you go by so many of them,” Jacob sassed. Leslie figured that Kat had gone to the police about their conversation to get revenge – therefore Kat couldn't be believed. Jacob played Leslie the recording of herself and insinuated that Leslie had shifted blame for Laura's hit-and-run onto Eva.
Leslie sneered that Kat should be arrested for recording her without her knowledge, as she had done to Eva with the secret security footage. Jacob informed Leslie that, in D.C., it was legal to record someone as long as one party gave consent, which Kat had by virtue of making the voice memo. When Jacob encouraged Leslie to come clean, Leslie claimed she had only been messing with Kat and giving her what she wanted, since she suspected Leslie and Eva of nothing but bad deeds anyway. Eva, Leslie insisted, was incapable of harming anyone, plus there was no evidence tying Eva to Laura's crash, such as a video.
Jacob shared his theory that Leslie and Eva had needed to get Laura out of the way so they could install Eva in the Richardsons' house. Leslie spat that she had only taken advantage of a situation, not created one. When Jacob wanted to know where Leslie had been the time of Laura's accident, Leslie named Mona and Jan as alibis who, despite hating her, could back her up. Realizing Leslie had only covered the hours before the incident, Jacob inquired further; Leslie became flustered and argued she had probably been at work, causing Jacob to propose calling Leslie's employer for corroboration.
Leslie asked if she needed to get a lawyer and refused to let Jacob harass her. Jacob conceded that he could no longer hold Leslie at the station but promised that, as a “boy scout,” he would get to the bottom of what happened to Laura. Leslie said she was glad there were cops like Jacob around while there were psychopaths roaming around free. “Who knows what they might do next?” Leslie purred.
