The Last of Us Season 2 is five episodes in, and the sixth episode, a flashback-focused one, is set to air this Sunday. Last week, Young Mazino, the actor who portrays Jesse in the series, appeared on the late-night TV show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In that late-night TV show, the 33-year-old actor spoke about working on the HBO series and even showed off his guitar skills.
But one of the episode's important moments came when the actor spoke about Pedro Pascal's Joel's death in The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 2, "Through the Valley". He said:
"Well, the two main characters, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina (Isabela Merced), are in a war zone trying to exact their revenge, because Pedro Pascal's character, Joel, got viciously murdered by somebody from the WLF. It's a military faction...."
It is worth noting that we have known about Joel's death for weeks, and it is also worth noting that those who had played the game knew that Joel was going to die ever since The Last of Us Part II, released in 2020.
Did Young Mazino really spoil The Last of Us Season 2 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon?
Honestly, no, Young Mazino did not spoil anything from the future episodes of The Last of Us Season 2. He probably might've spoiled Joel's death to a few who were planning to catch the entire series after the release of the season 2 finale. Everything that the actor said on the Fallon show has been known for a while.
Thus, it is safe to assume that the bit after the actor mentioned Joel's death was just a joke that was played up. However, Mazino did apologize to the few who are yet to start watching The Last of Us Season 2:
"So I'm new to this whole thing. I assumed everybody here had watched the show. Let me take that back. I'm just kidding. None of that happened! We're actively just all trying to survive this post-apocalyptic, harrowing world."
Let's not give the actor a hard time for talking about something that has been out in the open for approximately five years at this time. Let us all look forward to the upcoming sixth episode of The Last of Us Season 2, which is yet to be titled.
The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 6 is bound to give us the feels as it is a flashback episode featuring Joel:
The sixth episode of The Last of Us Season 2, which is untitled, will be set a few years after the events of The Last of Us Season 1, but before episode 1 of season 2. This episode will answer why Ellie was mad at Joel back in the season 2 premiere; that's because she learns that Joel lied to her back in the season 1 finale.
Another mystery that will be answered in this episode is the truth about Gail's husband Eugene Lynden's death. Eugene's name was mentioned in episodes 1,2, and 3 of this season. It is believed that Joel shot Eugene to save Ellie.
