After the exciting events of The Morning Show Season 4, audiences are eagerly waiting to see what happens in Season 5. The show has been renewed already, and hence, a fifth season is in the works.
One of the most fascinating characters in the Apple TV drama is Paul, played by Jon Hamm. The actor was a series regular in the third season, but only made a few appearances in Season 4 as the tech billionaire and Alex’s love interest.
Now the question arises whether Paul will appear in The Morning Show Season 5 after his reduced screen time in the previous season. Just as we were wondering, director and executive producer Mimi Leder gave a definitive answer about Jon’s future in the show. In an interview with Variety, Mimi confirmed that Paul is very much a part of the next season:
“Jon Hamm’s coming back. Is that a spoiler? Who cares? He’s going to be back. He’s the Hammster, we love him.”

After Paul’s failed attempt at buying UBA, his romance with Alex ended, and he got into a relationship with another woman. But as destiny would have it, Alex once again needed Paul’s help for Bradley’s release from prison in The Morning Show Season 4. While she still liked the billionaire, Alex eventually ended up sleeping with Brodie. Though she later felt guilty.
Now that Alex still has unresolved feelings for Paul, it will be interesting to see how their dynamics change in the upcoming season. Apart from their relationship, Season 5 is also going to focus a lot on current affairs.
During the same interview, Mimi Leder talked about what to expect from The Morning Show Season 5. She revealed that the show will continue to take inspiration from real-world events and said:
“I think we will be leaning into what’s going on now. The current state of affairs is daunting; the world is upside down, and how do we navigate through this world of half-truths? What is real? Certainly, the Epstein Files are current now.”
She added:
“I’m not saying we’re doing that, I’m just saying it’s a constant theme, it seems, from the beginning of our show — from the Me Too movement to where we are today with the release of the files. Let’s hope there’s some justice for these women.”
Coming back to Paul, we first saw him in the show in Season 3. He was a regular in the season as he endeavored to take over UBA while also having a relationship with Alex. In the fourth season, his role was reduced to a recurring capacity, and he only appeared in three episodes. It has not been revealed whether he will be upped to series regular again in the fifth season.
Apart from Jon Hamm, The Morning Show stars Jennifer Aniston as Alex Levy, Reese Witherspoon as Bradley Jackson, Mark Duplass as Charlie "Chip" Black, Billy Crudup as Cory Ellison, Nicole Beharie as Christine Hunter, Karen Pittman as Mia Jordan, and Néstor Carbonell as Yanko Flores.
