Fans of the K-drama Weak Hero do not have to wait much longer for the premiere of Season 2, as new episodes will air on April 25, 2025. With the approaching release date, Netflix has dropped a teaser for Weak Hero Class 2 that offers a brief glimpse into how the story might proceed this season.
As the teaser depicts, the story picks up right where it ended in Season 1 and follows
“Si-eun arriving at Eunjang High School, carrying the weight of his past. There, he meets new friends like Park Hu-min (Ryeo Un), Seo Jun-tae (Choi Min-yeong), and Go Hyun-tak (Lee Min-jae) and foes like Choi Hyo-man (Yu Su-bin), Na Baek-jin (Bae Na-ra), and Geum Seong-je (Lee Jun-young).”
While it was initially assumed in Season 1 that Soo-ho (Choi Hyun-wook) was dead, it was eventually revealed that he was in a coma after being badly beaten up by the bullies. Fans have since been eagerly waiting to know if Choi Hyun-wook will be making a comeback in Weak Hero Class 2 as Soo-ho.
However, the new teaser released does not feature his character and neither does the cast list for Season 2, which was dropped by Netflix back in December.
Weak Hero Class 2 official teaser does not feature Ahn Soo Ho
The teaser for Weak Hero Class 2 briefly tells the story that the new season might deal with. Besides marking the return of Park Ji-hoon as Yeon Si-eun, it also features actors like Ryeo Un, Choi Min-yeong, Yu Su-bin, Lee Jun-young, etc, in different roles. However, the teaser does not feature Choi Hyun-wook, who played Ahn Soo Ho in Season 1.
Given how Ahn Soo Ho’s storyline ended in season 1, it was already unlikely for the character to return to the show. He was so severely injured after being beaten up by Beom-seok and the other bullies that he ended up in a coma and was presumed to be dead.
Moreover, Si-eun is also shown to have changed schools in this season of Weak Hero Class 2, which opens up the possibility of him making new friends and dealing with new bullies. Therefore, chances of Ahn Soo Ho getting out of his coma and featuring in the story this season are not very high.
Another point that should be noted here is that when Netflix released the cast list for Weak Hero Class 2, Choi Hyun-wook’s name was not included, further hinting at the fact that his character was supposed to star in the first season only.
Choi Hyun-wook, while talking about his character in season 1, had mentioned to The Korea Times,
“I felt the character of Su-ho has grown more mature than the kids of his age through his experiences of real life from working (part-time). But I still thought this character could be spirited. Because this character is a type of friend you can come across in real life, I didn't try to portray him too dark.”
He had further added,
“(My life) before and after 'Weak Hero' changed a lot. I've learned a lot from Su-ho and I'm thankful to meet him. I've become more positive and try to live every moment without regrets.”
His words show how much he valued his character in the show and while fans might be a little disappointed to not find him in Weak Hero 2, his arc came to a natural end that suited the intensity of the story well.
Weak Hero can be streamed on Netflix.
