Fans of King of the Hill would often debate about Peggy Hill (voiced by Kathy Najimy) being one of the more annoying television characters. Peggy is a central character in the animated series, known for her eccentric personality and numerous failed careers. She is stubborn and often takes on challenges despite being aware that it is a glaring misstep. Her life is frenzied with events that can give one whiplash.
While she has her funny moments, her many professional conquests and hobbies come off as more tiresome than anything else. From being a freelance writer for the local newspaper to becoming an inapt Spanish teacher, Peggy has dipped her feet in all possible ventures in Arlen, Texas. Her non-stop chase to show off her irrelevant skills in King of the Hill makes her confusing and frustrating.
Peggyâs stubborn attitude in King of the Hill makes her annoying
One of the biggest traits of Peggyâs character on King of the Hill is her over-confidence. She is certain that she is not just supremely intelligent but also highly skilled. But the reality is far from it.
One of the more outrageous things she has done on the show is pretending to be a nun just to teach at a Catholic school. In Season 6, episode 12 titled Are You There God? Itâs Me, Margaret Hill, Peggy is looking to land a permanent job after not being able to secure a substitute teaching job at Tom Landry Middle School. She not only fabricates her resume but also manages to make others believe that she is an actual nun. Of course, her guilt gets in the way and she ends up revealing the truth, only to get fired.
While Peggy loves her family, she does not like to be sidestepped. She showcases an obnoxious side when someone else gets the attention that she feels rightfully belongs to her. In King of the Hill Season 7, episode 4 titled Goodbye Normal Jeans, Peggy notices that her son Bobby is slowly excelling in household tasks, making her feel insignificant. Hank even chooses Bobbyâs pot roast over Peggyâs pork chops, making her upset. When Bobby asks Peggy to put the turkey he prepared in the oven, out of pettiness, she takes it away. Of course, she later reveals how her actions were for the family, but the incident shows a rather cringy side of Peggy.
