Paris was just the beginning of Emily's thrilling challenges in Emily in Paris, and now it's time for her to conquer Rome!
Emily in Rome Season 1 sounds more interesting than Emily in Paris Season 5, as fans are excited about Emily Cooper's new adventure in Rome, Italy. Showrunner Darren Star also opened up about the upcoming season allowing a fresh narrative.
Emily's move from one iconic city to another provides the makers a big opportunity to rebrand Emily in Paris with a new title. As explained by Darren in an interview, the Roman shift will push the characters to grow professionally and personally.
At the end of Season 4 Part 2, Cooper almost renamed her Instagram handle to @EmilyinRome, foreshadowing an entirely new plot, and love life in Rome. Darren Star spoke to TVLine about it:
"I feel like it just expands the universe of the show. Just at the point that Emily has gotten comfortable in Paris, she’s sort of thrown into another country where she’s going to experience some cultural differences."
Though Emily won't be in Paris for some time, the French touch will remain a prominent element of the show. It began with a Chicago marketing executive experiencing a whole new professional work life in Paris, and now it is time to explore beyond.
Emily in Paris Season 4 leads to a fresh narrative for Emily in Rome
Though Netflix hasn't officially announced another season for Emily in Paris, the story simply cannot end with a major cliffhanger. Emily has yet to choose between Marcello and Gabriel, start a new office in Rome, and most importantly, divert from the Paris storyline which now feels stretched.
Along with Emily, other characters like Sylvie, Luc, and Julien from her marketing firm will be able to experience a new culture, work environment, and clients. Throughout the four seasons, Emily has been stuck in Paris, with the same characters and no progress in her love life until Marcello's arrival.
Despite their mutual feelings, Emily and Gabriel split every season. Moreover, she hasn't faced a huge or interesting challenge while working for Agence Grateau lately.
Emily in Paris Season 5 does not fit the upcoming chapter but Emily in Rome does. This shift will help maintain the excitement among fans, without entirely giving up on the French touch of Lily Collins's show.
What do fans think about Emily in Rome as a new title?
Fans can't get over Emily and Marcello's quick chemistry in Emily in Paris Season 4 and expect to see more of their story. The two visited The Trevi Fountain where Emily threw two coins and kept the last one about her marriage preserved for the future.
This has enticed fans about her decision to stay in Rome and begin a new life with Marcello in the upcoming season. Social media platforms are flooded with fans expressing hope:

While talking about the latest season in an interview with Deadline, Darren Star said Emily had not relocated to Rome permanently:
"She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie’s company has an office in Rome. Emily’s getting that on its feet."
The Netflix series always opens with an engaging plot and ends with a notable cliffhanger. It would be interesting to see who Emily chooses at the end.
