Who is Whitley in Wolf King Season 1? Character arc explored

Netflix's Wolf King Season 1 premiered on March 20, 2025, and is one of the popular series of the year. The animated fantasy-adventure follows Drew Ferran, the last werewolf, who is later discovered to be the heir of Lyssia.

The eight-part series depicts the challenges Drew faces to return and save his kingdom from the tyrannical and treacherous reign of King Leopold. Due to the enormity of the challenge, Drew is supported by numerous people throughout his journey. Whitley, the daughter of Duke Bergan, is one of Drew's acquaintances and first supporters.

Whitley is an important character not just because of how she helps Drew, but also because of is a rebellious female werebear who does not conform to rules and regulations that limit her personal freedom. She also plays a crucial part in the rebellion against Leopold and allies with Drew. Her rebellious attitude and her drive to help Drew bring peace to Lyssia make her one of the fan-favorite characters.

Wolf King Season 1: Whitley meets Drew

Wolf King Season 1 introduces Whitley as the smart but reckless daughter of Bergan. While her father wants her to behave like a noble lady, Whitley has her own way of showing her defiance, which often leads to clashes between the father and daughter. However, her wandering nature led her to meet Drew in the forest during her scout test.

After seeing Drew help them in the wilderness, Whitley decides to give in and take him to her home, Brackenholme. She is also the first character to learn that Drew is Wolf King Wergar’s son. However, her father had to capture and keep Drew locked up to protect him from Leopold and his men.

Since Drew had not learned to control his transformation, Whitley brought her friend, Hector, to help Drew with it. However, due to Hector’s slip of tongue, Lucas and Vankaskan find out about Drew and torture him.

Wolf King Season 1: Whitley is part of the rebellion forces

Whitley tries her best to rescue Drew in Wolf King Season 1 when Leopold captures him and announces that Drew will be executed. She aids Mikkel in rescuing Drew but is captured by Vankaskan, who locks her up in the ladies’ quarters. However, that doesn’t stop her from finding ways to help Drew, and she finds Drew’s mother, Queen Amelie, in the quarters.

Whitley also learns that Vankaskan has kept her under some enchantment, which she tries to get rid of with Hetcor’s help. The fearless warrior hopes that if Amelie gets out of the enchantment, she might reveal that Drew is the son of the late wolf king, resulting in the kingdom turning against Leopold. Whitley and her family, Bergan and Gretchen, also her and now Drew's friend Hector, become Drew’s allies in the fight against Leopold.

At the end of Wolf King Season 1, Whitley, with all of Drew’s supporters, is seen in Maelstrom, the pirate ship, ready to fight for the savior of Lyssia, Drew. The series' Season 2 will depict the epic fight between Leopold and Drew’s army, where Whitley is a crucial member.
