Who shot Jack in Virgin River? Details from the Netflix drama, explored

Virgin River Season 2 finale shocked the audience after Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson) was found shot behind his bar. Ever since then, fans of the hit Netflix series have speculated about the person responsible for the crime. Even though in Season 3, Brady (played by Benjamin Hollingsworth) gets arrested for the same, it is not until Season 4 that we learn that it was Paige’s (played by Lexa Doig) ex-husband’s brother, Vince (played by Steve Bacic), who shot Jack.

As a former United States Marine Sergeant, Jack Sheridan is one of the more prominent members of the tightly knit Virgin River community. He is a local bar owner and often plays the role of guardian of the town. Melinda Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) finds him with a bullet wound in the last scene of Season 2. The mystery regarding the identity of the shooter keeps looming over the storyline for the next two seasons.

Who shot Jack in Virgin River?

From the start of Season 3, fans of Virgin River kept wondering about the possible motive and the person behind Jack’s shooting. Most of the guesses were around the shady drug operations in the town.

By the end of the season, Brady, Jack’s former Marine teammate, was arrested for the crime. The evidence against him was initially strong; after all, they found the gun in his car, and he was also associated with the local drug kingpin. Jack’s memory from the night was still distorted, and though Brady claimed to be innocent, he was put behind bars.

But here’s the twist: Brady is not the culprit. When patches of Jack’s memory come back, he confirms the same as well. So, it was back to the chalkboard for the fans.

Meanwhile, former Marine and Jack’s best friend, Preacher (played by Colin Lawrence), had been helping the young single mother Paige, who was living in hiding, away from her violent ex-husband. When Wes comes looking for her and their son, in self-defense, she shoves him down the staircase. But Preacher, knowing her heartbreaking story, steps in and covers it up. He also lets Paige escape the town for the time being.

When Jack sees the CCTV footage, he recalls Vince coming into the bar, looking for Preacher. Vince was searching for his twin brother, Wes, in Virgin River. Suspicious of his intentions, Jack takes a butcher knife and stabs Vince. The two will argue, and Vince shoots Jack, leaving him bleeding behind the bar.

Vince resumes his search and even kidnaps Paige’s son to get answers from her. Paige returns to town in panic and seeks help from Preacher. Vince ends up confronting Paige with a gun, but just in time, Preacher hits his head, knocking him out, and saves Paige. Vince ultimately gets arrested in Season 5.
