Only Murders in the Building is back with Season 4, and the trio of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are set to uncover another mysterious killing in the Arconia. The true-crime podcast enthusiasts are investigating a new case of one Sazz Pataki, who was likely murdered in one of the apartments at the Arconia.

One name that frequents Season 4 is Professor Milton Dudenoff. The trio finds out that Sazz's killer used Dudenoff's apartment to shoot Sazz in the Arconia's west tower. While Dudenoff was conveniently not present at the time of the killing, he became a primary suspect in the case.

Dudenoff first appears on the show as a mention when the trio finds his name on Sazz's desk at her Hollywood residence. While the trio tries to find other evidence and suspects, Dudenoff becomes their primary suspect. His absence and frequent mentions in the case make him a suspect in Only Murders in the Building.

Here is everything about Dudenoff and his story in Only Murders in the Building.

Is Dudenoff the killer or just a red herring in Only Murders in the Building?

As it turns out, Dudenoff is not the killer in Only Murders in the Building but only a red herring. After much mystery about Dudenoff, Only Murders in the Building finally reveals Dudenoff's subplot as a voiceover by the character in Episode 8, 'Lifeboat'.

Dudenoff lived with his wife, a music teacher, in Arconia. They bought the other apartments on their floors to practice and to lend to his wife's students. But Dudenoff started inviting his friends for weekly card games after his wife passed.

The group included restaurant owners Inez, Alfonso, and Ana; Vince and Rudy, his film class students; and Helga, who installed a keypad on his front door. He also rented the spare rooms at meager prices to his friends who couldn't afford expensive NYC housing.

But when Dudenoff is discovered with a terminal disease, he fears that his death would cause a problem for his friends, who would lose their homes. He decides to die by suicide and have the Westies hide his body in the incinerator and lie about him going to Portugal.

While Dudenoff instructs The Westies to hide his body in the incinerator, he asks them to hide this from Helga, who is reeling from her father's passing. He still left a recorded message for her, just in case.

This secret soon creates a rift between Helga and the Westies when the former thinks the group has killed Dudenoff. She shares her concerns with Sazz, and the duo starts investigating Dudenoff's ''murder''. But their investigation is halted when a sniper from Dudenoff's apartment shoots Sazz.

The trio suspects Dudenoff for his frequent involvement in the case but later suspects that he has also been murdered when they find his remains mixed with Sazz's remains in the incinerator. But this red herring leads them ultimately to discover the truth about Dudenoff 's suicide and Westie's secret.

Griffin Dunne plays Professor Dudenoff in Only Murders in the Building Season 4, an acclaimed actor who has appeared in films like Paul in After Hours, My Girl, Dallas Buyers Club, and The French Dispatch.

Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for another season.
