When Kai visits Amelia's son, Scout, they decide to end things with Amelia because they don't want children and would no longer wish to lead Amelia in this relationship. The two, however, reconcile and begin a long-distance relationship.

After Kai's episode, Amelia sparks a romance with Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales), one of Grey Sloan's newest joinee. Monica is the new pediatric surgeon who is confident and believes in her methods (she sounds a lot like Amelia).
While Monica has spent most of her scenes with Amelia on Grey's Anatomy, it is expected that the two will have a romantic relationship on the show. While they started out as enemies, frequently bickering about cases, Amelia could have her own enemies-to-lovers arc on the show after a string of unsuccessful relationships.
But it seems like Amelia was not the only one Monica sparked romance rumors with. She also seemed to have something going with Winston (Anthony Hill). After a glimmer of hope for Amelia, Monica ends up with Winston.
Monica made a comeback in Grey's Anatomy Season 21. While she is expected for just 6 episodes, it will be interesting to see her fate with Amelia. As for Amelia, fans are waiting to see her new love interest on the show or maybe some blast from her past.
