ITV's 2015 British detective crime series Unforgotten is certainly one of the most impressive cosy murder mystery series on the small screen currently. Created by Chris Lang, every new season of the show features a chilling and haunting murder mystery for its lead detectives, Sanjeev Bhaskar's DI Sunny and Sinéad Keenan's DCI Jessica.
Primarily based in Bishop Street, London, the Unforgotten characters travel across Britain, taking on harrowing cold cases, piecing together clues, and eliminating suspects on their way. Season 6, which premiered in February 2025, follows the discovery of human body parts of a man in cold London marshes, and Sunny and Jessie are called in on the investigation.
While Unforgotten Season 6 is set in Ireland, the filming for the current season took place in Wales and Kent. A small Welsh village became the perfect substitute for Ireland for the show's cast and crew.

Unforgotten Season 6 filming locations: Revisiting key spots from the latest season
After filming in locations such as London and Rochester throughout the previous seasons, Unforgotten Season 6 took viewers to Wales and Kent. The crew used several filming spots across Deal, Kent, and Wales in the latest season. Some of these locations are as follows:
Deal, Kent
The quaint coastal town in the far eastern side of Kent was heavily featured in the latest season of the British detective series. Filming took place in various private residences of the town, which became important for iconic investigation sequences in the show. Additionally, the iconic pier in Deal, alongside the beach, was also utilised as an important filming location.
The next Deal location on the list is The Port Arms, a seaside pub in the coastal town, which is known as a favorite hangout spot for the locals. In the show, Gerry Cooper is revealed to be the landlord of this iconic pub. Additionally, St George’s Church and Kingsdown Leas (another beach) are also featured in many scenes of the latest season. The coastal town symbolises a rich naval history in England and became an important filming spot for the crew. While Wales brought the much-needed Irish aesthetic, Deal added a cosy yet haunting vibe to the overall mystery of the latest season.
Wales
The haunting mystery in Unforgotten Season 6 is set in Whitney Marsh, located somewhere in East London, in the show. Many fans were curious whether the Whitney Marshes exist in real life, and the simple answer is no. While East London has several wetlands like the Walthamstow Marshes, the central mystery of the season was actually shot in Wales.
Reportedly, the cast and the crew experienced freezing temperatures in Wales while shooting for the scene at the marshes in Unforgotten Season 6. Sanjeev Bhaskar even shared his filming experience with The Mirror UK:
"The marsh was freezing. Absolutely freezing. It was the first scene that we did. Boy, we were cold that day. It was thermos flasks and hot water bottles. But also, one of the storylines takes us to Ireland, which we couldn't get to in terms of the whole team, but we shot in Wales.''
The actor also appreciated the beauty of Wales and how it became the perfect stand-in for Ireland, where the murder mystery was set for Season 6.
In particular, Solva, a community and electoral ward in Pembrokeshire, was the principal filming location in Wales. This small Welsh village perfectly captured the Irish aesthetic needed for the story and added a morbid beauty to the season.
