With the confirmation of Andor season 2, the anticipation for arguably one of the best shows of the decade's second season has officially begun. Disney confirms that the Rogue One prequel series will return in April 2025.
According to Forbes, Disney+ accidentally revealed that the premiere date for season 2 is April 22, 2025. Season 1 ended two and a half years ago, and according to the leaked information, season 2 will pick up where it left off, just before Star Wars: Rogue One.
Praised for its mature storytelling, Andor simply gives a realistic approach to the Star Wars galaxy, offering a fresh perspective. Andor season 2 brings us closer to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - the theft of the Death Star plans by Cassian and the Rebel Alliance.
Everything to know about Andor season 2 in Star Wars timeline
The first season of Andor took place five years before the Battle of Yavin in A New Hope. Since the show only covers one year, it is natural to ask how the show will cover the remaining four years of Cassian Andor's story.
Creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy has answered the questions of Andor fans. Tony confirmed that the second season will consist of 12 episodes, divided into four arcs, just like the first.
The difference is that each three-episode arc will have a time gap. The second season will start one year after the first season ended, with one arc per year leading to the final stages of Cassian's story in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Gilroy said that it is not easy to jump in time because he has to illustrate all of Cassian's growth over four years, but at the same time, he has to make each arc feel like a logical continuation of the story.

How will the story of Andor season 2 fit into the exact timeframe?
The first three episodes of Andor season 2 jump forward to 3 BBY. Here, Princess Leia Organa is about to turn 16 and has to undergo the ordeal before she can take her rightful place on the throne of Alderaan. Things become complicated when she learns that her parents are planning a rebellion. Though uncooperative at first, Leia is eventually persuaded to help them, and one of her missions takes her to Ezra Bridger and his Ghost crew on Lothol.
But then comes a tragedy for the Rebellion in the form of a failed Jedi mission to ancient Malachor. Ahsoka Tano is presumed dead after a duel with Darth Vader, Darth Maul blinds Kanan Jarrus, and Ezra Bridger is pushed close to the Dark Side. It would be interesting to see if Andor season 2 introduces a hole in Luthen's spy network or if Mon Mothma meets Bail or Leia Organa in the Senate building on Coruscant.
What to expect from Andor season 2?
In season 2 of Andor, Cassian will be in a different place from where we left him in season 1. The showrunner confirmed we will finally learn how Cassian met K-2SO, his trusty ex-imperial interrogation droid.
Season 2 will be much more connected to Rogue One, so fans will see the formation of the Rebel Alliance. All the Rebel cells acted separately in the first season, but now they're all coming together. See them set up their secret base on Yavin IV. Yavin's fourth moon will also be shown next season.
As per Gizmodo, Tudyk has officially confirmed his return for the Andor season 2. While he couldn't reveal much about his role in the new season, he did praise showrunner Tony Gilroy, saying,
“Tony Gilroy is a very skilled writer. He’s a big-brained guy.”
