What We Do in the Shadows is not only known for its impressive plot and humor, but also for its music. The story of the vampire group who try to live a normal life as roommates is complemented by the show’s soundtrack.

Since its premiere in 2019, the FX series has frequently featured songs that have left the audiences humming. The music also elevates the overall impact of the narrative and goes well with the horror-comedy setting of the show.

The theme song, especially, has become quite famous, thanks to its catchy beats and tune that are apt for the show’s tone. Let’s take a look at the theme song and some of the most popular tracks from What We Do in the Shadows.

What We Do in the Shadows theme song is You’re Dead by Norma Tanega

The theme song that is played at the beginning of every episode is You’re Dead by folk singer Norma Tanega. Interestingly, it is the same song that was played in the intro scenes of the eponymous 2014 film, on which the TV series is based.

You’re Dead was released in 1966 as the opening song of Norma’s album, Walkin’ My Cat Named Dog. Though the track failed to make a mark at the time, it got its due decades later with What We Do in the Shadows.

Norma released several other songs in her career, including Solar Winds, Jubilation, and I'm the Sky. While she started her career as a folk artist, she later ventured into pop and experimental music.

Meanwhile, she also wrote songs for Dusty Springfield, with whom she was in a relationship for five years. The singer died in 2019 at the age of 80.
