What We Do in the Shadows has cemented its place as an excellent ensemble comedy. With each episode, it has honed what makes its characters and relationships funny. The new season gives Guillermo a chance to stay in the spotlight after Nandor and his former familiar, who isn't undead anymore, have problems at the start of season 6.

The sixth season has some witty instances of self-awareness. This season we met a new character, a rule-bound bloodsucker we had never seen before, called Jerry the Vampire. It turned out that Jerry had been asleep for 50 years, so Laszlo, Nadja, and Nandor lost interest in conquering the world from their new base of operations in the outskirts. They became sort of human-like.

In the early episodes, we see the vampire group reunited. However, Guillermo, who was not turned into a vampire, goes off to live his own life. So Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin start to think about their old friend Jerry, who slept in 1976 and was forgotten. They begin to worry that they have already given up on taking over America and that no one is making a documentary about them.

In season 6 of What We Do in the Shadows, Jerry should have been awakened by his gang on New Year's Eve 1996, but the team forgot. And that's why he's been asleep down there in the cellar all this time, while they've spent half a century goofing off and reading by the fire. They blame him for not being ambitious in season six, which seems a bit nonsensical. The vampires aren't the smartest, and they're easily influenced - that's what the third episode, "Sleep Hypnosis", is about.

Two big things happen in the third episode of the sixth season. Firstly, Baron is back, which is great because he's a fan favorite. We also get to see how Guillermo's first intimate interview went, and it has a pretty interesting twist.

Guillermo tries to get Colin to talk to Nandor with the help of sleep hypnosis. It's pretty easy to see that it's not going to work. Guillermo ends up getting sleepy himself, and things don't go as planned. Nadja and Laszlo are also listening in, so everyone takes advantage until Guillermo gets help from Baron, who ends up being hypnotized by his recording.

Now that Nandor understands, things have changed between Guillermo and him. He has stopped taking advantage of Guillermo's existence. But, the question now is, with Guillermo not obeying any of Nandor's orders, where does their love relationship go from here?

New episodes of What We Do in the Shadows air on FX every Monday night. Fans can also stream the show the next day on Hulu.
