A medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy is a 21-season long series on ABC and Hulu. The plot of the series is about the grueling lives and relationships of surgical interns, residents, and attendants at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle.
In many of its seasons, the series focused on the character, Dr. Meredith Grey who started as a surgical intern at the hospital and is now working on her research after she resigned as chief of general surgery at Grey Sloan.

Since the last few seasons, Grey’s Anatomy now focuses on an ensemble format. While the series consists of many main and recurring cast members, the newest addition to the Grey’s Anatomy recurring cast list is Sophia Bush.
Sophia Bush joined Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Cass Beckman. In her debut episode, her character, Cass kisses Teddy Altman. This creates tension between Teddy and Owen which may be exaggerated if Dr. Cass were to return.

Who is Sophia Bush in Grey’s Anatomy?
Sophia Bush plays the role of a fun and friendly trauma surgeon who works at Seattle Presbyterian. Dr. Cass Beckman is married to Grey Sloan's cardiothoracic surgeon, David Beckman.
Sophia Bush made her Grey’s Anatomy debut in season 21 episode 6 titled, 'Night Moves'. In recent episodes, audiences have seen Teddy and Owen navigate the rough patch in their relationship.
Episode 6 opens with Teddy and Owen on a date in a fancy restaurant trying to work on their relationship. Their date begins to veer off course when they run into Dr. Beckman and his wife, Dr. Cass Beckman.
As the two couples are catching up, Owen and David are called to Grey's Sloan due to multiple traumas coming in. David suggests Teddy and Cass stay and enjoy their dinner. While at first Teddy is reluctant, she agrees to spend the evening with Cass.
Feeling awkward at the fancy restaurant, Teddy and Cass decide to ditch the place and go to the bar next door for drinks and burgers. As the evening progresses, Teddy and Cass begin to joke and get along.
Teddy opens up to Cass about the issues Owen and her are facing in their marriage due to their busy schedules and heavy workload. When Teddy asks how Cass and her husband do it all since they are also doctors, Cass reveals to Teddy that she and David fell into a similar rut and got out of it by opening their marriage.
After some more drinks, Teddy continues to open up to Cass saying that maybe she needed a break from Owen and not her kids. Cass kisses Teddy which catches the latter off guard.
Teddy leaves the bar after making it clear to Cass that while her marriage is open, Teddy and Owen's is not. Finding this incident funny, Teddy jokingly tells Owen about it at work.
Not expecting much of a reaction from Owen, Teddy is surprised when Owen takes the incident seriously and leaves the room angrily. Later in the episode after Teddy and Owen operate, Owen apologizes to Teddy and admits he over-reacted.
What might happen if Sophia Bush returns to Grey’s Anatomy?
While Owen may have forgiven Teddy, audiences can expect more drama to unfold between the couple. Based on her recent interviews, audiences can also expect to see more of Cass. While talking to ET about her experience with Grey’s Anatomy, Sophia Bush stated,
"We had so much fun. Kim is just the most wonderful human, and that whole set, it's a dream set to work on. Everyone is so kind, so dedicated. To see that kind of energy all these years into a show, I mean, Shonda is a world-maker. I'm just loving it. And I get to do more surgery? Hello?."
She further added,
"I can't spill the secrets but I can say I'm really having a great time."
These statements make us believe that fans might get to see Dr. Cass in the OR in the upcoming episodes. If Sophia Bush returned to the show as Dr. Cass, audiences might see tensions rise between Teddy and Owen.
While things between them may look good now, old feelings might resurface for Owen if he sees Cass again. We still don't know when Sophia Bush will return to the series as Cass but audiences can be assured that they will be seeing more of her.
There is a chance that audiences get to see Sophia Bush as Cass in the upcoming episode, 'Drop It Like It's Hot' which is scheduled to release on November 21, 2024. This will be the last episode of the series before it returns in March 2025.
