Twisted Metal Season 2 has finally wrapped up shooting, as confirmed by co-creator Michael Jonathan Smith. It is a post-apocalyptic action-comedy television series written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland and Deadpool fame).
The show is based on the vehicular combat video game franchise published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and was released on Peacock in July 2023. While the show was announced for a second season, there was no news about the same.
With Smith's confirmation about the shoot wrap-up, the new season is expected to be released soon. However, there is no official release date or window for Season 2.
Twisted Metal stars Anthony Mackie (Captain America) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn 99) in the titular roles. The story follows Joe, who is tasked with delivering a mysterious package. He is a milkman with amnesia, and the story is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
He must escape the marauders and navigate his way with the help of his sidekick, Quiet, to learn the details of his forgotten past.

What happened at the end of Twisted Metal Season 1?
Here is how Smith shared the wrapping of Season 2 via his Instagram -
We see Sweet Tooth getting shot in the head as he demands from Stu, but he survives, and the two escape together. Joe and Quiet reach New San Francisco, where Raven welcomes Jow as a new citizen, but asks Quiet to leave as she was not a part of the deal.
While Joe does not want to stay without Quiet, she shoots him in the shoulder so that he has to be taken in. Quiet takes the package and distributes it to people outside the city. Ultimately, she becomes a Robin Hood-esque hero, stopping other milkmen with the packages.
While John settles into his new life, he becomes bored and wants to return to find Quiet. While Raven tries to stop him, she reveals her ultimate plan: She has chosen him as her Champion to represent her at the tournament.
What can fans expect from Twisted Metal Season 2?
The story for Season 2 is quite well laid out in Season 1, which feels like a prelude to the upcoming season. While the first season introduces and sets the characters, the second season will feature the Tournament.
Fans will also get to see the show's villain, Calypso, who is only heard in Season 1. While Joe and Quiet are apart in the finale of Season 1, they are expected to meet to create their charm on-screen.
As the name suggests, fans will be able to see some actual Twisted Metal in the second season, with the car racing tournament in full swing.
