According to Deadline, Penske Media Corp., which owned TVLine, has sold the media company to Indianapolis-based Static Media for an undisclosed price.
TVLine was founded in 2011 and is a website that covers information and news about various shows. The website was founded after Michael Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly, decided to leave the company and create a TV-focused website along with PMC or Penske Media Corporation, which was founded by Jay Penske.
From news and interviews to spoilers and recaps, the website catered to everything regarding TV shows. According to the news, the original founder Michael Ausiello and editor Matt Mitovich are departing from the website.

Details about TVLine being acquired by Static Media

TVLine is a 15-year-old digital news platform and it has now been sold by its parent company, Penske Media Corp to Static Media. While the financial details about the deal have not been revealed, it is confirmed by Deadline and Variety that Kimberly Roots will stay on and continue to be the editor-in-chief of the website, even after the deal. Further, the remaining staff will also stay on.
However, Matt Webb Mitovich, the chief content officer for the website will step down. Further, Michael Ausiello, the founder of the website, will also depart after the transfer to Static Media.
In an Instagram post, Ausiello wrote, “I loathe goodbyes, so let’s try this: Earlier this month, I said farewell to #TVLine, the site I founded nearly 15 years ago. TVLine is embarking on a new chapter, and so am I. … Though I am excited to begin my journey as a full-time creator and storyteller, I remain grateful to Jay Penske for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime in launching TVLine. To the site’s new owners: Please take care of the most talented, hardworking and kindest team in all of entertainment journalism. And when #Gilmore Girls is revived again, I implore you to give them the unlimited resources they will need to cover it.”
Static Media is also a digital publisher and has over 30 brands. It spans across various titles like food, lifestyle, entertainment, and includes Jalopnik, The Takeout, and more. The company was founded in 2012 and it has over 200 employees and has an audience of over 220 million monthly visitors according to its website.

The media company PMC or Penske Media Corp, had also sold BGR or Boy Genius Report to Static Media. BGR is a tech and science publication that PMC had acquired in 2010. On the other hand, Static Media bought auto brand Jalopnik from G/0 Media in 2025.
In 2023, Novacap, a Canadian private-equity firm, invested in Static Media heavily and Static Media is also invested in by Mark Cuban. The media house was founded in 2012 by CEO Reggie Renner and Mike Langin.
