Tulsa King Season 3 Episode 9: Recap
Episode 9 of Tulsa King Season 3 opens in Newark, where we meet Russell Lee Washington Jr., played by Samuel L. Jackson. He’s an assassin who works for Quiet Ray and thinks he has finally finished repaying his debt.
But Ray gives him another mission: travel to Tulsa and kill Dwight. Russell doesn’t want to do this because Dwight is his old prison friend, but Ray makes it clear he has no choice.
In Tulsa, Dwight deals with the fallout from Deacon’s attack. Deacon is now gone, but his taped confession is very much alive, and Dwight uses it to pressure Musso into helping him get a federal liquor license. Montague Distilleries quickly rises while Jeremiah Dunmire's business falls apart. Jeremiah loses control and becomes even more furious.
Russell arrives in town and watches Dwight from afar before approaching him. When they meet, Dwight instantly knows Russell is hiding something. Russell finally admits Ray sent him to kill Dwight. But he also admits he doesn’t want to do it. Instead, he warns Dwight that more danger is coming.
That danger arrives in the form of two hitmen Ray sends to kill both of them. Realizing they have no choice, Russell and Dwight team up like old times and take the pair down in a quick, sharp fight.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Tyson and Bodhi continue making risky choices that involve their drug business, Grace tries to move up at Montague, and Cleo returns to Mitch after almost walking away for good.
Everything erupts in the final scene when Jeremiah is able to kidnaps Joanne and this is what sets the stage for a brutal showdown, i.e., Episode 10, aka the finale for Season 3.
What is Jeremiah's plan, you might ask? Well, the plan is pretty simple and straightforward. He wants to force Dwight to give up Montague Distilleries. But the move pushes the story toward an even darker path.
